The apartment is located in a very safe neighborhood and a couple of minutes walk from the nearest bus stop. Friendly neighbors and convenient location would make this place a perfect home away from home to any traveler. Just 8 miles to downtown.
This ground-floor apartment consists of a large living room with French doors (opening to a small lawn/garden), a well equipped kitchen, a large bathroom with a shower with hot water and a large air-conditioned room with a queen-size bed.
Guests are welcome to use the garden/lawn and one parking space to park their vehicle. Guests can obtain a remote control for the front gate (this will be useful/necessary if you rent a car and plan on using the parking spot) with a security deposit of USD 200.00 (Reason: replacement of the remote if lost or damaged will cost me approximately USD 180). Laundry facilities are located in the apartment.
Interaction with guests
I will be available in person for the most part. However, if I am not in the upstairs apartment at any given time, the guests can always reach me via phone anytime.
Other things to note
My apartment is just above the advertised apartment and I will be more than willing to help you with anything (i.e. information, recommendations, equipment, etc.) that would make your stay more comfortable. If you have more than two guests (i.e. children), please let me know in advance and I will be able to provide an additional folding bed to accommodate them. However, the maximum number of occupants under any circumstance cannot exceed four.
Please be respectful to the neighbors and keep the noise levels at a reasonable level. Smoking inside the house is strictly prohibited. However, feel free to smoke in the garden/lawn area.
After living abroad for more than 15 years, I retuned back to my beautiful home country - Sri Lanka. Growing up in this island nation filled with its natural beauty and plenty of places to visit during school holidays and vacations, I did not grasp the wisdom of the old Sri Lankan proverb, "the foot that travels is priceless (crudely translated from "Avidda paya dahas vatyi")," until I had the opportunity to travel the world and experience different cultures and people.
Sri Lanka is a unique destination: whether you are a traveler seeking an adrenaline rush by whitewater rafting, or exploring wildlife in one of the national parks, or just kickback near a beautiful beach while enjoying an ice cold beverage of your choice, you can find it within this 65,610 square kilometers. Just in case if you are a history buff and South Asian history and languages are what excites you, you will not be disappointed with the remnants of old kingdoms and artwork that spans back 2000 years or more. Apart from the hustle-bustle of the capital city Colombo, which is not too different from any other cosmopolitan city that most travelers have experienced, I believe the true Sri Lankan values are still strongly embedded in the outskirts of the four main population centers (i.e. Colombo, Kandy, Galle and Jaffna) of Sri Lanka. However, in order to experience this, a traveler may need to be somewhat adventurous and step out of ones comfort zone. Before revealing all the secrets of this gem of a place, I'll invite you to my home and my country with two greetings that you will get very familiar with if you visit Sri Lanka - "Ayubowan" (translation: "May you live longer") and "Vanakkam" (translation: "Greetings").
