Newly renovated 2 story home with groomed trail to the property's sandy beach. Includes 3 bedrooms (2 queen, 1 single over double bunk bed) 1.5 baths, spacious dining room, fully equipped kitchen, sitting room, sun room, and laundry room with washer and dryer.

The space

Take pleasure in your own sandy beach on the world-renowned Cabot Trail. A newly groomed and marked trail along the property's natural brook will lead you from your front door to the Atlantic Ocean (approx. 3 min walk). Our location holds the perfect balance of rural coastlines, neighboring shops and mountain vistas.
You will have exclusive use of our newly renovated two-story, three-bedroom home (2 queen, 1 single over double bunk bed) with 1.5 baths, spacious dining room, fully equipped kitchen, sitting room, sun room, and laundry room with washer and dryer. Relax, hike, swim, read, shop, and attend weekly local traditional music sessions. Purchase lobster and crab (in season) at the local wharf less than 5 km away.
Saunter next-door to the Clucking Hen Café and Bakery, then to Glass Artisans who offer daily glassblowing demos or across the street to Woodsmiths Studios for fine working crafts. There are many other shops, restaurants, rivers and beaches within 15 km of our home. A 35-45 minute drive in either direction will take you to the quaint village of Baddeck or to the picturesque landscapes of the Highlands National Park in Ingonish.
Exclusive to this home only, hire local Gaelic speaker and cultural interpreter for a 1-2 hour traditional céilidh. You will learn about chain migration of the Gaels to Cape Breton, local lore, Gaelic words and phrases and even a Gaelic song.

Guest access

Guests have full access to the entire home plus access to the beach. We have great wi-fi and cell phone reception at our location. Lots of parking space for vehicles.

Wonderful! Clean, comfortable beds, nicely decorated, well apppointed for all your needs, fire pit, hammocks, cute wooded path to a fascinating rustic beach, great location. Clucking Hen next door but not super close as to interfere with peace and quiet (great food, views, friendly) artesian shops very close by with very talented artist (woodwork, glass, leather, pewter, quilts). Old Smokey scenic drive 25 min away with unbelievable views. Doneldas Puffin tour 35 min away (so fun!) many whale watching options. Neila is very responsive, helpful - it was a trip of a lifetime!

We had a very good experience on the Cabot Trail and enjoyed the comfort of Neila's place. We did the local Ceilidh, got the lobster from the local wharf and primarily checked out Ingonish and Baddeck. Neila was very responsive throughout our stay and the check in was fantastic. We had 3 generations under the same roof (incl a toddler and newborn). Budget at least 45 minutes to the nearest grocery store or town. Would return when kids are a little older!

If you're looking for a relaxed getaway then look no further. The host was very kind and made our stay comfortable. The beach is a 10/10. The bakery next door is amazing. The location on the Cabot Trail was ideal. We went in early July and the Atlantic was too cold for some of our group but we discovered a beautiful swim spot on the Indian Brook a 3 minute drive away. There's also an oversized fire pit to enjoy. The kids (2 and 4) had a blast and keep asking when we can go back to Cape Breton Thanks Neila

If you are looking for a private location with easy access to the water it's a perfect location. Home was very clean and has everything you need. Beach was a lot of fun for the kids and stretches out in both directions for nice long walks and adventures. Local wharf had great lobster. Also close by were various craft shops and a full service cafe with awesome baked goods and food. Highly recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing family vacation.

If you are looking for a charming, clean and comfortable place to stay on the Cabot Trail, this cottage is a great choice. Cottage is private and perfectly located as a home-base for easy day trips along the Cabot Trail. The private beach is peaceful and spectacular. Neila is very friendly and always available to help and make your stay just right. We toured, hiked, and attended a Ceilidh! Our family really enjoyed our stay. We hope to be back someday. Thank-you Neila!

This home was lovely and beautifully kept. What a wonderful path down to the ocean and a spectacular treat to have it all to ourselves. Such a relaxing stay in a great location for exploring all that the Cabot trail had to offer.

Neila's place was awesome. We were attending the Gaelic College during the week so we didn't get to enjoy it as much as we would have liked. Everything was very clean and well appointed with "little extras" like eco products and local soaps - even a bottle of local wine! The house has everything you might want - except maybe a dishwasher, but that's an easy trade for two hammocks, christmas lights in the trees, a great fire pit and barbecue and lovely flowers around the house - and a bunny! The beach and the lovely woods path down to it are amazing - I can't believe we were the only people on that white sugar sand! There are very cool gypsum cliffs there too. Neila offered wonderful suggestions for restaurants in the area - You HAVE to have Pannekoeken at The Dancing Moose and the pizza at Simply Pizza (and the people in both places were so nice!). Neila was a perfect and responsive host. We got lost and were late arriving and Neila helped us get there via text. She offered all kinds of great suggestions for fun things to do or see. Her daughter offered to give us Gaelic lessons too (for a reasonable fee) but we were already taking courses at the College. Neil was never intrusive either. There are so many wonderful artisans and crafts places right along that stretch. We enjoyed them all - especially the glass blowing demos right across the road. Thank you Neila. We will be back as soon as we can.
