The space

This lovely sunny apartment in the lower floor of our home has a private entrance and wind protected deck. With ocean and jetty views, it's the place to be for afternoon sunsets and BBQs. It has a small fridge but kitchen is stocked for a cook, complete with two burner stove, convection oven microwave, spices, french press, herb garden, grill and more. There is a pillow top queen mattress and a sofa bed. The place works great for two people but a third or child can be accommodated, with approval. We love animals and people from various walks of life but live in residential area so welcome only well-behaved dogs and people.

The space has lots of windows and is decorated with Mexican folk art and some of Kay's own art. Laundry access is available upon request and private parking is provided. There is a fully equipped kitchen for the chef and a smart TV for movies, music and internet. We have an organic garden and will share herbs and other produce (depending on the harvest cycle). Yaquina Bay State Park is steps away with beach access, the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, and whale viewing spots with scopes. We can set you up with beach chairs or a crab pot, and have other resources to help you to make the most of your trip.

Guest access

This private apartment and deck is on the first floor our residence. Access is via the path around the north side of the house at the bottom of the driveway/garden and across your private deck. Catch morning sun in the garden area and enjoy the sunsets and jetty views from your deck. Guests will be provided the code to the door just prior to arrival.

We are happy to share our love of Alaska, Newport, Mexico, hot spots, stories and fresh herbs from the garden with you. If you prefer total privacy, we are fine with that too. I offer Art classes in Felting, Eco-Printing and Jewelry. Visit

My husband and I and our dog had a great stay in April. It was extremely stormy out, and we very much appreciated how well sealed the building was from the wind noise - we stayed comfortable and slept very well.

We had a great time. The space is a comfortable spot with a view of the ocean that was enough to make us know we were there. We also loved the sound of the ocean and the waves crashing on the shore. The space was just as advertised. A cute little space which was just perfect in size for the two of us and our two night stay. We talked to Richard a couple times and he was very helpful. We highly recommend staying here. As for the area, we were in walking distance of everything we wanted to do. It was a short walk to a restaurant named Georgie's which was right on the water with a great view. We went there for breakfast then walked back on the beach to the state park at the dunes on the other side of the house. Note we may have had trouble finding the stairs up, but were able to follow the footprints of others before us. We had planned some longer walks to the aquarium and Rogue Public House, but it was raining hard enough we decided to drive. The aquarium was nice. It is always fun watching the otters and seals. They also have a nice glass tunnel through 3 different tanks, one of which had sharks in it. Overall a pretty standard aquarium experience.

Kay & Richard provided top-notch communication beginning to end. They treated us like admired guests and were quite friendly while we enjoyed a nice weekend get-a-way together on our anniversary. This was not only a great location, but we felt right at home with all the amenities this cozy home-apartment offered. The small touches our hosts left us were quite a surprise, and as a bonus we enjoyed a rain-free Saturday, which is sporadic in March on the Oregon Coast! You just can't get this kind of stuff from a Hotel...
