Description

The space

The main bedroom overlooks the front garden and "home" paddock. The lounge which has a sofa bed, overlooks the pool, show jumping and dressage arenas. The second bedroom has its own sitting room and access to the outside patio and BBQ area.

Guest access

Guests are invited to use the pool, BBQ and wood fired pizza oven. Bring your own special toppings and the main kitchen is available to prepare the food.

Interaction with guests

With all the activities available in the area we can help guests choose where and what to see. The train to Newcastle is only 5 minutes away and Uber operates in our area.

The neighbourhood

Although Millers Forest is now largely used for grazing, historically it was the first major timber cutting area in the colony. Morpeth was the major port for the export of logs to Europe. Later it became a major milk producing area with as many as 45 dairies located between Millers forest and Morpeth.
The Hunter River, which flows down to Newcastle, is less than a kilometre away. Between here and Morpeth, one of the largest Rowing Regattas is held on the river.
Naturally each river town (Morpeth, Hinton, Largs, Patterson, Raymond Terrace) has a pub located either on or near the river.

Getting around

Buses operate along the main road between Raymond Terrace and East Maitland. They service the nearby Williamtown Airport. Train services are available regularly from Thornton Train Station which is a 10 minute drive/Uber.

Other things to note

Cycling is very popular in the area due to the quiet roads and extensive village cafes nearby.

This is a lovely warm and welcoming rural property with a great host. Greg was informative and helpful and the area is lovely. We were pleasantly surprised at how much space we had.. not only the bedroom, but a cosy living area and clean and modern bathroom. Lovely touches with supplies and information about where to eat locally. A relaxing and laid back break, and we hope to visit again soon!

What a lovely home to end our Hunter Valley trip at! We would have loved to stay longer it was so beautiful! Greg, Jenny and Jess's place is homely and clean with farm animals all about. They were all extremely welcoming, helpful and kind. The room was nicer than the pictures and you had your own private lounge overlooking the fields as well as a private bathroom. The bed was soo comfy and made getting up in the morning to leave very hard however the beautiful sunrise over the property left a lovely lasting impression. My boyfriend particularly enjoyed his time with the horses and we both loved Miss Georgina the dog. Greg also provided a tea and coffee station in the lounge with a mini capsule coffee machine too! Fantastic airbnb stay!

The most perfect of places. It was so stress free and relaxing. The hosts was so nice and informative of the surrounding areas and what to do, thanks to Jess she gave us a experience of feeding the animals on the farm. We will certainly be coming back! Perfect!

I would highly recommend staying at Greg's farmhouse for an authentic and homely Hunter Valley experience. Greg was very welcoming and spoiled my partner and I with tea and coffee, scented candles, dinner recommendations and a tour of his beautiful property. Communication with Greg was easy and I would consider a stay at the farmhouse excellent value for money. Thanks Greg!

Partly retired managing director of a small consulting company operating in the Australian Mining industry. We live in the country just north of the city of Newcastle Australia on a small property and enjoy small restaurants, old movie theatres and music.
My wife and I met in Europe many years ago while I was studying. We now travel, mostly to ski but this year to attend a wedding in Portugal in July. We are reasonably fit and enjoy walking and visiting beautiful cities and country areas. We tend to travel cheaply and try to be as flexible as possible in case we hear of something that we shouldn't miss. Our extended families live all over the world.
