Privately situated, gracious home ideally located for exploring Shelburne Falls, the Mohawk Trail, the Berkshires, the Five College area, and Vermont. Two lovely adjoining bedrooms can accommodate up to 4 people sharing a private bath. Guests may enjoy breakfast downtown using a complimentary gift certificate before heading out to explore: outdoor rafting and hiking trails nearby, Mass MoCA, Tanglewood, and the Clark an hour away, and shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.
The public rooms are filled with light from the long windows that face south. The bedrooms are located on the second floor, under the eaves, cozy and comfortable, spacious and welcoming. Rooms are adjoining and best suited to couples or families.
Guests may use a private entrance that leads to the bedrooms on the second floor, but may also access the house through the main entrance, which opens onto a parlor where guests are welcome to relax. Guests may also enjoy lounging on the spacious front porch, weather permitting.
Interaction with guests
As a longtime resident of the area, I would be happy to make suggestions about sites to visit, restaurants, hiking areas and shops in and around Shelburne Falls and adjacent villages such as Historic Deerfield. Museums abound in the nearby Five College area and in the Berkshires, both a short drive from here.
Other things to note
Both bedrooms are located on the second floor and are not handicapped accessible. Couples wishing separate beds will be charged for two rooms. The resident dog - Chumley - is a very social and loving cockapoo, sometimes given to bursts of exuberance before meals and when guests arrive. She loves a good rub if you are so inclined - otherwise, she will leave you in peace.
I expect guests to be considerate and courteous, respectful of the furnishings and spaces. Absolutely no smoking is allowed in or around the premises.
I am a longtime resident of Western Massachusetts but originally hail from the Boston area. Three years ago, I moved to the village of Shelburne Falls, which is wonderfully situated to places I visit often: Amherst and Northampton, Lennox and Stockbridge, old Deerfield village and Brattleboro, Vermont. I would be delighted to share what I know about all the things to see and do here in Shelburne Falls but also in the surrounding area and in the neighboring areas of the Berkshires and Vermont. Retired from my work for the Five Colleges, I spend my time gardening, reading, going to films, concerts and museums. I also enjoy cooking, most especially breakfast! My dog Chumley (AKA Chummie) is very dear to me and, like me, is happy to meet new people.
