Sweetheart Cottage – Cosy Cottage, Hot Tub & Highland Romance
Curl up by the open fire beneath exposed stone walls, or slip into your own indoor hot tub room after a day of exploring — Sweetheart Cottage brings true Highland charm with a touch of romance. It's the kind of place that makes you want to slow right down.
We're tucked into the Cairngorms National Park beside the village of Bellabeg, home to the famous Lonach Highland Gathering and Games each August. Just across the road, the River Don winds past the historic 300-year-old Jacobite Poldullie Bridge, built in 1715 and featured in the Mary Queen of Scots film. Eight miles up the road, the Lecht Ski Resort offers stunning views — and we're perfectly placed for whisky trails and castles too. Whether you're here for sightseeing, walking, skiing, birdwatching, exploring, or simply to relax, Sweetheart Cottage is your ideal base. Celebrating something special? Just let us know and we'll do our best to help mark the occasion.
Sweetheart Cottage sits across from our main house, with its own secure parking, separated by a fence — this boundary, along with our outbuildings and fenced-off areas, is private, so please stay clear (CCTV and alarms are fitted).
Good to know:
- We've a wee honesty shop attached to the side of the double garages — enter through the main red and glass door marked "Honesty Shop"
- Smart TV has Netflix only (our personal account — please don't log in). You're welcome to log into your own other streaming apps, just log back out after
- Check-in from 4pm, check-out by 11am
- Pet friendly — up to 2 well-behaved dogs by request. Leads on at all times outside, as we keep ducks and hens who won't appreciate a chase. Bring your own covers if your dogs are used to furniture
- We're remote — takeaway/eating out is a 15–30 min drive. Kildrummy Inn (15 min, Tue–Sun); Aboyne, Alford and Ballater (30 min) have more choice. Onsite bar, afternoon teas, and breakfast rolls available by request
