Wonderful location, close to the museums and to the Vondelpark: a 75 m2 private apartment, with a balcony overlooking a small square. The apartment has high ornamented ceilings, marble mantle pieces, and other charming original (1904) features. And there's a grand piano. Large windows make the apartment bright!

The space

The open kitchen, with its original kitchen tiles, is fully equipped (dishwasher, gas stove, toaster, coffee machine, and microwave) and opens to the balcony. From the balcony, there is a lovely view of the old cathedral-type church, down the street.

Two bedrooms, “en suite":
- back room with a large bed -- 180 cm. (70 inches).
- front room with two (pull-out) single beds.

Walk-in shower with heated floor tiles. The bathroom is circa 3.5 m2 (37 ft2).

Guest access

The Dutch are well known for their steep stairs, and though the stairs of our townhouse are less steep than others in the city, they are nevertheless rather steep. There are two long flights of stairs leading to the apartment - and no elevator - so the apartment is not suitable for travelers who have difficulty climbing steep stairs.
The staircase leads to three private apartments: one on the 2nd floor, the guests' on the 3rd floor, and the host's (David) on the 4th.

Interaction with guests

Before making a reservation for you, I would like to have the following information about you and your traveling companions:
1) your ages and what you do;
2) where your flight/train into Amsterdam is coming from -- and your expected time of arrival in Amsterdam.

When you arrive, I'll be at the apartment to let you in and to show you around. I live in the apartment directly above and will be happy answer questions during your stay. You can always text or email me.

Other things to note

BREAKFAST is not provided, but there are several excellent places for breakfast close by, if you don't want to fix your own.

SUPERMARKET: a large one is located at the nearby Museum Square, underground (a 3-minute walk).

LAUNDRY: There's a good laundromat just two short blocks away (Banstraat 16).

We stayed here with our six year old and had a wonderful stay. (Wouldn't stay there with younger children though as the description says). All of the information was very accurate and David was a wonderful host. There was a fabulous Italian restaurant just across the road that made us all extremely welcome, and had great atmosphere. Thanks David for a lovely stay.

We had a fantastic time in Amsterdam. David's delightful flat was perfect for our stay. We had a great view of the square from the flowery balcony. Rooms were spacious and relaxing with all amenities on hand and welcome touches like flowers and wine. The area was quiet but near to museums and bus and tram routes with some nice local restaurants and bars. David was the perfect host, very helpful with tips and transport details and we enjoyed staying in his family's beautiful apartment. I would recommend choosing this flat for your trip to Amsterdam.

David made us very welcome and was there to greet us when we arrived. I had emailed prior to the trip and he always responded quickly with useful information. David also gave us his number and said he was contactable at any time . The Apartment was spacious and clean and felt homely with out you feeling like you are intruding on someones life. The balcony over looked the square was perfect for sitting there watching the world go by (I wish I bought my sketch book) , on Saturday there is a small farmers market in the square and breakfast (wild mushrooms on freshly made bread) bought 10 ft from the front door ... best breakfast ever. Getting to the apartment from the airport was easy using the airport shuttle (5 euros) the bus stop being 150 meters away from the apartment . The area around the apartment is quiet and family orientated with 5 minutes walk to the Van Goch exhibition , supermarket , park and all amenities . We didn't use public transport due to everything be quite local. In Summary we had a lovely weekend, in an elegant apartment, a welcoming host in a very lovely area of Amsterdam.

Very comfortable stay for 4 nights. This apartment had every convenience. A quiet calm neighborhood, but Close to two major trams, and very walkable to the museums and the Vondelpark. The apartment was spotless and sun filled, and on Saturday there was a market just downstairs. David was very easy to contact and welcoming.
