The Popoola home is a beautiful brick home located in Machesney Park, Illinois. The home is an open floor plan, a modern design and a 3,750 square feet structure. The home includes two family/living rooms, two dining rooms, a study room, four spacious bedrooms, a game area, three bathrooms, laundry room, storage area, large three-car garage, two decks, spacious front and back yards, and a state-of-the-art 3D home movie theatre (complete with reclining leather chairs and popcorn machine).
Interaction with guests
The purpose of our homestay is to provide an amazing cultural experience and language improvement. We want guests to feel what it is like to be part of an American family. We want guests to not only visit the United States, but to really be immersed in the culture. Our goal is for our guests to embrace our home, family, this country and the language.
Other things to note
You can expect: clean and comfortable living quarters, delicious home-cooked meals, one full day exploring the sites in Chicago. Transportation to the local mall so that you can shop, one professional massage, one date night (for couple) which will include dinner at a restaurant and a fun surprise, one day trip to the Wisconsin zoo in Masison, WI. Depending on the time and resort availability, you may be able to spend 2 nights at a resort in the Wisconsin Dells, WI. There you can relax in the pool, go hiking, get in the jacuzzi, fish....
While at the Popoola home you may also learn to cook an American meal and dessert, if you desire. You can choose to visit a movie theatre or try bowling. If you have any special interest, please let us know in advance so that we can try to accommodate your desire.
Every weekend there will be “outings” or mini-vacations. We will travel as a family to amazing zoo’s, Wisconsin Dells, theme park, and waterpark adventures. We will also visit the great city of Chicago for some sightseeing and a tours.
We are sure that you will have a wonderful time with the Popoola family and a great experience with Tizlu International.

Christina is passionate about hosting and providing world class hospitality to all visiting guests from around the world. Christina has degrees in Human Services and Organizational Leadership. She also has TESOL certification. Born and raised in America, Christina was an English teacher and owner of C and C English in South Korea for six years. After returning from South Korea, she continued her studies and began a family. Her recreational activities include: cooking, traveling, reading, and exploring the world through culture and amazing experiences. While traveling the world Christina learned a lot. She was a teacher of English but a student of life. She knows the value of travel and the value of having great hosts. Through Tizlu International and the homestay program, she aims to give students and travelers the greatest experiences possible. While English is a focus, culture, family and fun are just as important. Tizlu is not her job, but her passion.
Israel is an Engineer, Adjunct Professor and Entrepreneur. He relocated to the United States over a decade ago. During this period, he has completed three Master’s degrees and has began PhD studies. Israel is employed by an engineering firm and has formerly taught at Purdue University and Indiana Wesleyan University. In his free time Israel loves to travel, sightsee, and learn anything possible.
Together, the Popoolas have three sons: 10years, 4years and 2years. The children fill the house with joy and sunshine. To know them is to love them.
