The space

We have not had our home very long and really feel it is like stepping back in time and we are very keen on the vintage artsy feel and enjoy collecting vintage and craft items and artwork for a truly individual home. We hope that guests will enjoy the calm atmosphere and the plentiful character it holds. It is the perfect setting for a relaxing break. Each room has its own unique feel and are decorated with interesting items. One of the bathrooms and the downstairs toilet have just been renovated and we have had new carpets put in.

The living room has a widescreen TV/DVD player, original fireplace and some nice artwork and cosy sidelights. It has a large designer sofa and plenty of armchairs for a relaxing evening in. Please note the fireplace is currently not useable. The dining room is large and sunny with a big dining table, a piano and curiosity cabinet.

The house has high speed broadband.

There two bathrooms, one with a double size shower and another bathroom with an original roll top bath for a luxurious soak. There are 3 toilets in the house one is on the ground floor. Bed linen is provided but towels are not.

The house is perfect for families, small groups of friends and even couples. It is very convenient being so close to the town and beautiful sandy beaches. Just a short walk to the famous Cromer pier with its array of seaside shows which we would highly recommend. The living room, dining room and kitchen are all very cosy spaces and the garden is very lovely and sunny throughout the day perfect for relaxing or entertaining. There is table, seating and a chiminea in the garden for your use. Please do water the plants if they look very thirsty.

There are six bedrooms in the house. The grand master bedroom has a king size feather and black bed and the other bedrooms all have victorian style bedsteads and adequate storage for guests. The master bedroom sets the tone of the house with comfortable armchairs, an Edwardian dressing table, a huge wardrobe and a stunning original fireplace and mirror, decorated in farrow and ball paint.

The twin guest bedroom next door has pretty twin cast iron single beds and vintage Victorian style wall paper.

There are two double bedrooms. The first floor sunny back bedroom has a beautiful bay window to let the sun in, a double bed is one of our favourites. The other bedroom is on the second floor.

There are two sunny single bedrooms on the second floor with new carpets and feather and black single cast iron beds.

Please note depending on the size of your group some bedrooms may be locked.

Additional's such as housekeeping during the stay or the housekeeper to unpack your shopping delivery in the kitchen prior to your stay can be arranged- please enquire.

We do allow up to two well behaved non shedding dogs will be permitted by guests for an additional fee of 25.00 per dog. Dogs are not allowed upstairs or on the furniture and any additional cleaned required will be charged to guests. There is an early check in/late check out fee .

We would request guests please be verified as airbnb works on a trust basis.

Gas is included up to 5 units per day with the cost, above this is chargeable.

Guest access

We have our private bedrooms on the top floor but you will have access to the whole house. We will not be at the property during your stay.

Garden has full access with no steps aside from one at the back door. There are 3 steps up to the front door.

The neighbourhood

The house is situated in a quiet road in the older area of town with a delightful range of grand Edwardian properties in the local road. Cromer is a beautiful old Edwardian seaside town which was famous back in the day and advertised as Poppyland By the 1880s the town was on the coast and with the advent of railways, it became a fashionable attraction for the Victorians and then Edwardians, who built a string of grand hotels on the seafront and a magnificent pier, which has the last end-of-pier show in Europe and was voted 2015 UK Pier of the Year!

Luckily the town over the years has retained much of its original character and architecture. The town has much to offer with wide sandy beaches, delightful cliff top walks, a thriving town with an increasingly arty element, cafes, pubs and restaurants. The is a grand church in the centre, a cute little cinema and a museum. The pier shows and also steam train events at Sheringham are recommended.

Cromer crab is very famous and well worth trying. There is lots of fishing boats on the shoreline, fresh fish aplenty!

Cromer is also a short drive to the many beautiful places to explore along the 20 mile stretch of coastline including Sheringham, Wells next to the sea, Blakeney, Cley, Felbrigg Hall and the broads. It is also only a half hour drive to Norwich.

Getting around

There is a train station just 10 minutes walk from the house with links direct to Norwich. Its very accessible from London.

The North Norfolk Railway, known locally as 'The Poppy Line', stretches 5 miles between Sheringham and Holt, with stops at Weybourne Heath and Kelling Halt, which gives access to Kelling Heath, a protected parcel of heathland covered with gorse, heather and bracken – and lots of rambling paths.

Parking is on street. It should be no problem to park outside on the road.

Other things to note

The house is old fashioned and has its quirks, it is not suitable for someone looking for sparkling modern. We are working on improvements over this year and next and the price reflects this.

The hot water gets very hot so please be careful. Towels are not provided so please don't forget them.

The TV is not connected to the aerial. Feel free to bring a laptop or playstation etc which is easily plugged in. There are also lots of DVD's.

We are keen to consider the environment and encourage guests to not use heating and lights on when you go out or 24 hours a day. We require guests to take a meter reading on arrival and departure and energy will be charged if over the daily rate which is set at a reasonable level to maintain your comfort in the house. Gas is included up to 5 units per day with the cost, above this is chargeable. This will be in the terms and conditions.

Books and DVD's can be used by guest but please ensure everything is put back in place.

- No smoking or pets. You may smoke in the garden but please dispose safely of the butts.
- Please ensure windows are locked when you leave or go out. Use the keys provided.
- Please wear slippers indoors.
- Please use the coasters provided- a lot of the furniture is very old and stains easily.
- No fires- the chimney still needs to be prepared for this.
- We are keen to consider the environment and encourage guests to not use heating and lights on when you go out. Please recycle as much as possible putting waste in the green bin
Enjoy yourselves but please respect noise levels outside at night. We have a strict noise policy in place. If you break it you risk eviction and will lose your deposit.
- We do not permit dogs upstairs or on furniture and request you please clean up after your pet in the garden.
- No parties
- Books and DVD's can be used by guest but please ensure everything is put back in place. And please check you don't remove anything from the property when you leave.
- Any damages or breakages need to be reported at the end and will be deducted from your deposit.
- All terms and conditions will be sent to guests to sign
