About this listing
Experience the beauty of the New Zealand forest while being close to Auckland city. This multi-level architect-designed treehouse home is a real gem. Character to the max with native timbers, big triangle windows and five different levels. You need to be a cat lover as two are in happy residence and will need to be fed. Long stay sought Mid July to Mid September.
This house was designed by renowned Kiwi architect Kerry Avery when he was a student for his young family. It is a multi level pole house with lots of different levels and wonderful quirky features. It is set in a kauri grove so 360 degrees you have our beautiful native kauri around the house.
The house is generally available for short stays but between June and September 2016 I'm looking for someone who will stay for a month or more.
The whole house is yours. There are two gorgeous cats who live here and it would be wonderful if you would look after them as your own. I will leave food for them. They have a cat flap so there is no cat litter to deal with. Maybe the odd mouse to discard.
NB: The second bathroom has a bath with shower over but it's not really in order. It's best to use the shower room upstairs and just use the bottom bathroom as an extra toilet/basin and for laundry facilities.
NB: There is a basement room that is storage only and not in use by guests.
NB: Heating is woodburner only so if you are here for the shoulder season bear in mind it might be chilly in the mornings/day until the fireplace has heated things up.
Interaction with guests
I will aim to be here for your arrival and possibly departure. Otherwise I will leave a key. Either way I will be in clear communication with you.
No smoking inside the house.
Light the fire daily during winter to keep everything warm and dry.
Cancel up to 7 days before your trip and get a 50% refund plus service fees back.

Hi, I'm a writer/editor/poet/traveller/horse rider/nature lover and to explain the picture I also play djembe, African drum (don't worry I don't practise at home!). Originally from England, I've been in NZ nine years and I'm enjoying living in the trees in West Auckland and the great lifestyle this region has to offer: wild romantic beaches, hiking in the beautiful bush (kiwi word for forest), great cafes and local galleries. Currently I'm working on newspapers - Australian ones. Sometimes I write features for magazines. Travel, lifestyle, homes. I love road trips and finding cool places to visit. Can give you some great tips about what to do in the area. Enjoy meeting people and look forward to meeting you :)
