Interaction with guests
We'll treat you like we treat our family: we love having guests and would love to know about you, but we respect your privacy if you'd rather keep the interactions minimal.
We travel a lot, often relying on the kindness of strangers whose directions and insights have had a tremendously positive impact on our adventures, so we would love to pay it back. We're happy to offer recommendations or insights that may be helpful before and/or during your stay in this amazing city. We'll be your "phone a friend" while you are out and about if you need information or guidance. We also have many DC tour books and maps that you're welcome to borrow.
About us: We married in 2014 and one of us hails from the deep South (works in the education sector) and the other is from the Midwest (works in foreign affairs). So you'll benefit from Southern hospitality (minus grits for breakfast), with a side of friendliness and dependability. We hope to be a great fit for any visitor.
We have two cats who will likely observe you from afar, although sometimes they have become friendly towards those who put off that Jedi cat whisperer vibe.
--Must be okay with cats and gays because we have two of each
--Always lock doors when entering/exiting and turn on security alarm when leaving
--Noise curfew at 11pm (we live in a row house thus share walls with our quiet neighbors)
---Do not leave any exterior doors open because our cats will make a run for it. Especially, the back door, Sebastian will bolt out and be stealth about it

We are professionals in our mid 40's. I’ve been working in the education sector for 20+ years focusing in special education and educational technology. She is in foreign affairs, has lived in a handful of countries, and speaks Portuguese and Spanish. One of us is from the deep South and the other from the Midwest, so rest assured we’ve got this hospitality thing mastered!
In our spare time we love to travel - the more off the beaten path, the better. We enjoy the outdoors, listening to live music, foreign and independent films, reading , hosting dinner parties, gardening (her) and cooking (me). Also we're unabashedly addicted to the National Zoo's panda cam because we love the new panda cub, Bei Bei.
We love meeting new people and are excited to play the role of host and make your stay in DC inviting, comfortable, and unforgettable.
