Great place for larger groups. We comfortably slept seven. The location is so central and a few minutes to the city centre. There is a Bonus market a few blocks away , a 2 minute walk.Eating out is quite pricey especially for a large family we cooked in most days and you can get pretty much all you need there. You can always find free parking around if you have a car. House is old and has a bit of history which you can read about in the square opposite.Warm and comfortable. Overall a great place to base yourself at to explore this fascinating and beautiful country. Thanks Johannes.

Great place with a bunch of character in the heart of Reykjavik.

The location is perfect for exploring Reykjavik and is close to shopping, restaurants and groceries. The house is old and a bit more run down than the pictures show however a great price. The beds where ok but having one shower for larger groups is a little tough. The place could have been a little cleaner but was always nice and warm. Johannes was easy to get a hold of and really tried hard to fix issues we had during our stay. Also parking is metered and not free as noted in the description.

The place ist perfect if you are traveling with 4 or more people. The Street is close to the Hallgrimskirkja. The neighboorhood is very silent. We enjoyed our stay. Johannes responded very quick when some Lightbulbs went out of service. Also he brought a new Waterboiler and a new Coffee-Maker. Thanks for that :-)

Visiting Iceland is very expensive so when a group of 7 of us was visiting, I was concerned about finding affordable housing. Luckily we found this bnb. It was a great value, in a central location, and large enough to accommodate everyone. The BNB is only a few blocks from the central cute shops and cafe. It felt like everything was 10-15 min walk from the BNB which was great including many Reykjavik hotspots. We did the blue lagoon tour which offered only hotel pick up and drop off. We were concerned of logistics in how to get picked up but there was a hotel (Holt) around the corner which we walked over. Just a nice tip if you're planning a tour and there are limitations on pick up. The neighborhood is quiet, filled with cute row houses, and easy to find. We didn't rent a car but parking seemed ample. The BNB is as described, traditional, shabby chic. It's traditional and rustic. The large space is comfortable and has everything you need. I typically don't cook while traveling, but with food being so expensive in Iceland, we cooked several times and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare a good meal or like us, breakfast and sandwiches for our trip. There is only one shower so for a large group, there can be a wait. The towels weren't the plushiest but were clean and plentiful. Overall, the value, space, amenities, location is highly recommended. If you like rustic places, this is a great option. Our host, Johannes, was easy to communicate. You can expect a response from him in several mins. Prior to our arrival, he warned us that there was no toilet paper and was out getting some. When we arrived, toilet paper was at the space. Although the space doesn't have a bnb information binder, he relayed the wifi, check out info, etc quickly. Johannes also gave us a great private tour. With only 6 hours left before our departing flight, he took us around the Golden Circle for some amazing sites and photos (even stopped by to see some horses on the roadside). I highly recommend taking his tour if he offers it as you have the freedom and flexibility to customize your own tour. Overall a great host, would definitely stay here if I visit Iceland again.

Johannes's place is exactly what the name of it says. It is a traditional residence within walking distance to restaurants, bars, tourist attractions and a Bonus supermarket. Love the vinyl record player and collection. It is a very quaint and comfortable place to stay at. Good for big groups. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you Johannes!
