Room for monthly rent in a spacious house from the 70ies with nice wooden floors and furniture, several balconies, lush plants, shared pool and two lovely cats. Located between hip hot spots Jatujak market and Ari. BTS nearby, bicycle available.

The space

The room for rent is about 20 sqm and one of the two bedrooms of this spacious (approx. 120 sqm in total) family-style-house. The monthly rent is 14,000 baht and includes AC (if you dont overuse) and maid service. You will get connected with a local Thai, who will be your roommate (Santahn, Creative Director, easy-going, kind workaholic, who loves to chill with a beer after working late hours every day). The space quiet and surrounded by nature: You can see squirrels, cats, frogs, toats, humming birds, butterflies and even parrots have been spottet. There are a lot of plants on the various balconies, it would be great, if you love plants as much as I do and can help look after them. There is high-speed fiberline internet, the fastest you can get in Thailand. The cats Lola and Mali will be happy to play or cuddle with you. There's a maid, who comes almost every day to do the dishes and beds, but not the laundry.

Guest access

You'll have access to the large living room, which includes a desk, the perfect place to get your work done. It is equipped with harman/kardon soundstick wireless speakers where you can enjoy music from your computer or phone. There s a lot of place, ideal also for yoga or meditation or just relaxing. There are four balconies full of lush plants, one of them is furnished and an ideal spot for reading, smoking or taking your breakfast while enjoying the view on the big Moringa tree in front of the house. Bike available.

Interaction with guests

I will be available via email and other means of modern communication while my stay in Europe from June till end of August. My roommate will be there to help you, should any queries arise.

Other things to note

You will live with my roommate, who he is a pretty chilled-out guy, who mostly works late at his own advertising agency. He is very kind, creative and loves to share a beer and a cigarette with you on the balcony. I will be for 3 months in Europe, so I m looking for someone, who can stay at least 2 months at the house. Dates are (a bit) flexible.

When I arrived I felt very welcomed by Tamina's roomate. The house was nice but very hot during the day. I booked this place because it was close to my work. Furthermore, there is no air conditioning in the common areas of the house and I was charged an extra 1500 baht for air conditioning. To me this makes no sense considering that I only used the air conditioning in my room. The two cats were awful! The maid of the house complained about the pets peeing all over the house too. In addition ,one of the cats peed inside my expensive carry on and the compensation was that I didn't have to pay the air con bill. All in all I would not stay here again unless the pets were gone.

Response from Tamina:
I only met her once, we communicated via phone, because I am abroad. She was nice in the beginning, but then started complaining about my cats. Then one of my cats was locked in her room (we dont know, who did it) and she unfortunately peed on her suitcase, which I regretted a lot. I offered to pay a professional cleaning, which she rejected. She wanted 200 Dollars, then 100 Dollars. I said I need a proof of purchase (receipt, which she didnt have, or even an online-link where I can see the price), she was very uncooperative and demanding. I found that the bag only cost 80 Dollars (around 3,000 Baht) online and offered half of it (coz the bag was already used), which she also rejected. In the description it is written clearly that you ll live with 2 cats and also, that aircon use is included ONLY IF used moderately, otherwise you have to pay extra. This I also discussed with her, when we met and she agreed. The usual bill was 1,000 Baht more, than our usual spendings, which I had to deduct from that amount, that I would pay for the bag. So I offered another 500 Baht, which she rejected as well. I didnt mark up anything for the house, all are my real costs, so of course I dont want to pay extra for the aircon-bill from my own money. She was unhappy about it and already threatened to give me a bad review in the beginning of negotiations. I found the conversation with her quite uncooperative and she would also not see my points (that I need a proof before I give her any money, no proof who locked my cat in the room). If a problem like this happens I think it is about finding a solution, which works for all parties and to communicate in a nice way. Unfortunately with her it was not the case.

I love art, design, photography, cats, beer, wine, cheese, eggplants, sun, fresh air, coincidences, candlelight, old houses, espresso and the beauty in the ugly. I am a Thai-German, who was born and raised in Germany. Before moving to Bangkok in 2009, I lived in the French Alps for some years. There couldnt be a bigger contrast, I guess. I work as a tv producer and designer. What makes Bangkok so fascinating? It is a city full of contradictions and unexpected turns – and it never sleeps!
