Welcome to our cozy, cool and clean 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Oceanside California rental bungalow just 1/10th of a mile from the sand! This 1000 square foot private residence is 3 properties away from the ocean in a split home attached to our seperate-entrance apartment. You will be within walking distance to the beach, shops, bars, restaurants, public transportation and more, and a quick drive to the 5 freeway, so this vacation home is perfect for your next southern California coastal adventure.

The space

Welcome to Beach Life! This cute and nicely appointed 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home will be the perfect place for you and your guests to relax and enjoy the California coast a few hundred feet from the crashing waves.

In addition to staying in this clean and comfortable attached bungalow, you can enjoy the activities and recreation of the San Diego area within reasonable commuting distances. Walk to the beach, restaurants and shops in downtown Oceanside, or walk or drive less than 1 mile to the Oceanside Transit Center and hop on a train straight down to San Diego for a day in the city, a night on the town, or even a game in the stadium.

This 1000 square foot attached house is located on a small residential street 1/10 of a mile from the beach. The place features queen size beds in 2 bedrooms, and a full size bed in the smallest bedroom. Additional guests can use the pull out sofa with a full size mattress, and 2 single size temporary beds (please see pictures for locations of temporary beds - these beds and linens will only be made available upon request). The unit has some closet space for your luggage and beach gear, and it features 2 full bathrooms. When you're ready to entertain or share a meal with family and friends, make yourself at home in the full kitchen and enjoy your meal at the 6-person dining table - if your group is larger, foldable tables and chairs are also available upon request. The home also features wireless Internet, basic local TV, and a smartTV and BluRay player in the living room and a smartTV and DVD player in the 1st bedroom so you can access online accounts like Netflix, Hulu, Pandora and more in both of those rooms.

GROUP SIZES - Please keep in mind that this is 1000 square foot 3 bedroom unit, and the house is ideal for groups of around 6 guests, but we understand that some groups are comfortable sharing space with more family members or guests. People of all ages must be included in the # of guests, so please be sure to include the total # of adults AND children in your group when making an inquiry or request. We ask that if your group has more than 6 guests, you include information about your group (the number of adults and the number of children under 18 years old) with your inquiry or request, and acknowledge that some members of your group will have to sleep on pull out or temporary beds, just to ensure everyone is comfortable during your stay. Requests or inquiries without this information may not be accepted, so please be sure to include this information if your group size is larger than 6 people.

PARKING - There is dedicated off-street parking for this rental. The parking space can fit 2 small to medium cars, or 1 larger vehicle. Additional public street parking is available surrounding the property. Detailed directions and parking information will be included in check-in information.

PLEASE NOTE - The property neighbors the coastal corridor train tracks, so you will hear trains moving by and horns blowing throughout the day and evening. The property is 550 feet from public beach access, and trains can be heard from any beach location in the north San Diego county area. Please feel free to ask any additional questions about the property or inquire about any addititional information about the area.

RENTAL REQUIREMENTS - We require a 4-night minimum rental provided your rental includes both Friday and Saturday nights. If your rental does not include both weekend nights, we may require a 5 or a 6 night minimum depending on the season. Some dates qualify for a 2 or 3-night minimum stay but an additional service charge of $250-$500 (depending on season or holiday) will apply for rentals of 3 nights or less. Airbnb does not automatically include this service charge for 2 or 3 night rentals in the online quote, so if you are interested in a 2 or 3 night rental, please inquire for specific date availability and rates.

WEEKLY AND MONTHLY DISCOUNTED RATES - Weekly and monthly discounted rates are available but prices may not be exactly as posted on Airbnb if a holiday or holiday weekend falls within your date range. Please send an inquiry through Airbnb for specific pricing.

Interaction with guests

My goal is for you to enjoy your vacation the way you want to, so aside from some logistical correspondence before your arrival you might not hear from me, but if you have any questions about things to do or places to go, feel free to ask, because I'll be happy to share any local information with you to give you some options during your trip. Please keep in mind that I do live on the property (in a separate attached apartment in the back) and we share the common walkways, parking and outdoor areas, so if you see me around and have a few minutes, let me know if your group is having a good time and what you guys have been up to!

At this Oceanside location, we offer lessons, classes and excursions for your group to enjoy at reasonable rates. Activities and lessons include: surfing, stand up paddle boarding, paddleboard yoga, beach fitness/yoga, hiking tours, road bike tours, mountain biking, sunrise stretching, personal training and other active lifestyle experiences, so if you're interested in anything, please inquire for additional details.

For your convenience and reassurance, I also keep a list of qualified service professionals in the area in case anything unexpected occurs during your visit. Other things to note

We provide freshly laundered linens, including sheets and towels. We also provide kitchen items including cookware and dinnerware, but we do not supply any food products for health reasons. We do provide dish soap and hand soap and a basic 3-in-one bath wash, but for hygienic reasons, we do not provide washcloths, so you will be responsible for your own personal hygiene items and kitchen ingredients on your trip. No Animals of any type Allowed. We host guests who have severe animal allergies that could result in illness or death, so for that reason we are unable to accept reservations for guests who require bringing a service animal onto the property. We take this very seriously for the comfort, health and safety of all of our guests, so if your rental needs require bringing any type of animal, please search for other accomodations.

Also, we do not allow additional overnight or temporary guests without prior written authorization because we structure rates and accept reservations based on the number of guests that you specify, and we do not allow additional guests or visitors without prior written approval. Guests include adults and children, so you must disclose the total number of guests in your group before booking, including adults, infants and children. We understand that your group might have additional overnight guests or temporary visitors during your stay, but we require that you inform us when additional people will be at the property as a courtesy to us and the neighbors. If you confirm your reservation for a specific number of guests, and your group has more than the number that you indicated, you will be responsible for a charge of $100/guest/day upon arrival, otherwise your rental will be revoked and your payment and security deposit will not be refunded. If you plan on having additional people during your stay, please just send a quick message indicating the time and nature of your gathering and the number of visitors you will have, and the duration of their stay. Additional charges may apply.

Violation of the No Smoking, No Pets, and No Additional Guests or Visitors rules will result in revocation of rental without refund, removal from property, and non-refund of security deposit. We expect that guests are open and honest with us about the needs and numbers of their group before making a reservation.


Climate Control - This unit has a window air conditioner in the living room, and a wall heater in the hallway. To conserve our resources, we ask that you close all windows and doors while using the air conditioner, and turn the unit off while your group is away. The air conditioning unit is only intended to maintain a comfortable temperature in the home during the evening. Unlike a central air conditioning system, this unit is not capable of reducing the inside temperature to make the house significantly cooler than the outside temperature throughout the day. In coastal California, not many homes are equipped with central air conditioning systems, so we recommend opening windows in all rooms during the day to enjoy circulation of the ocean breezes. During Spring, Summer and Fall, we extinguish the pilot light on the wall heater so it does not cause too much ambient heat in the home. If you need assistance lighting the pilot light to use the heater, please let us know.


Trash Removal - Please remove all trash, food, medicine and perishable items before leaving. Forgotten items may be discarded. Please put trash items in the GRAY bin along the driveway, and please put recyclable items in the BLUE bin. Please contact us regarding lost property.

Cleaning - Cleaning charges cover surfaces and linens, and your group is responsible for cleaning any used appliances, equipment, dishes, silverware or cook wear. Please clean of dishes and cookware before checking out. Please load and run the dishwasher prior to check-out, being sure to pre-wash all items. Our cleaning staff will unload the dishwasher after the wash cycle has completed. You may leave any other cleaned kitchen items on the counter to dry (a dish drying rack is located in the small lower kitchen cabinet next to the refrigerator) and our cleaning staff will put everything away after it has dried. PLEASE NOTE: Not cleaning cookware, dishes, small appliances and large appliances (like the stovetop, refrigerator and microwave) thoroughly will result in additional cleaning charges at a rate of $100/hour with a minimum of a 1 hour charge.

Inventory - Items in the unit including appliances, equipment, remotes, kitchen items, linens, etc., are accounted for and inventoried after each visit. Please leave all items in the unit upon self check-out and notify us of loss or damage to any items.

Check-Out - Please lock the door upon self check-out. Our cleaning service normally arrives shortly after the end of your rental, but service staff will not enter the unit if it is evident that your group has not checked out. There is a $100/hour late check out fee so please be sure to check-out on time or notify us ahead of time if you would like to pay for a later check-out.

We will provide you with a CHECK-OUT CHECKLIST, so please follow the simple guidelines before your group leaves to ensure return of your deposit!

We stayed in Jason's cottage for a multi-generational (but no kids) beach weekend, and this was perfect - close to the beach but away from the traffic, cozy space but plenty of room for 4 of us to cook and eat, nice indoor and outdoor spaces, comfortable beds. Fair warning that it is right by the train tracks (there are ear plugs provided!), which was loud at times but a white noise app mostly drowned it out. I'd come back again with my kids!

My family and I really enjoyed our week in Oceanside! The only thing I would change is not to plan so much time away from this beautiful neighborhood. We went to Legoland twice (just 10 mins away), SeaWorld (30 mins away) and took the train down to Oldtown San Diego (this is a must do activity for the whole family). There are several parks (with playgrounds) near by, and the grocery store was about a mile away. You are mins to I-5. We would definitely stay here again, but next time plan to spend more time relaxing and less time running to all the theme parks.

The location is great, one minute walk to the beach. I found the house to be comfortable and had everything we needed! I came with my two young children ages 2 and 5 and found it to feel very safe for them in the house. They also appreciated the host leaving us rocks and sharpies to decorate them to add to the guest book rock garden.

We had a great family holiday at Jason's place. His communication was wonderful and check in was so easy. The house is a very short walk to a beautiful scenic beach. All the appliances and tools we needed to make our holiday dinner were available in the kitchen. There was plenty of bedroom space for our group. Two full bathrooms made the mornings easy. Th house is also very close to Legoland if you are hoping to make a trip. Jason really thought of everything. There is a train that runs past the house but Jason has conveniently supplied ear plugs in case you need them. He also provides plenty of details about checking out so there is no confusion. I highly recommend this house if you are looking for a great getaway!

Jason was an amazing and thorough host. He communicated with us very clearly about everything we needed and wanted to know. His bungalow is beautiful and very clean and comfortable. Everyone slept soundly each night. The location is amazing. Close to stores, restaurants and anything you may need. The beach is just a minute walk away. We had a fabulous time in Oceanside, and we will definitely be back to stay at Jason's home. I highly recommend staying at his property.

We --i.e. four friends looking for a weekend by the beach-- had a great time at Jason's place. Everything was as described. The beach-- one tiny block away from the house-- is great, quiet, and almost private. The town is lovely, with an interesting night life, all being a short 10-15 minute walk away from Jason's house. Jason and his girlfriend are lovely, very welcoming, and quite responsive to any concerns and inquiries. We took Jason's advice regarding restaurants and bars and were quite happy with those choices. I believe I echo the sentiment of my three other friends when I say that we'd gladly return to spend a few more days by the beach if we had the chance.
