Enjoy stunning views and peaceful, rustic grandeur at this beautiful eco-conscious Picacho mountain retreat located just 5.7 km from Centro. A bright, airy, custom-built adobe and stone home with a wide glassed-in dining and living area.
Built of adobe using traditional methods, the house sits on the hillside facing the long view to the Presa Allende in the distance. Surrounded by gardens and other adobe buildings, the setting is pastoral, with the small community of Estancia de Canal below.
The house is bright and colourful inside, with a well-equipped eat-in kitchen, a small computer “nook", one inviting bedroom featuring a traditional boveda ceiling and a large round glass-roofed shower in the bathroom. Across the width of the house and facing the “view" is a glassed in living-dining space that affords superb vistas and magnificent sunsets. An outdoor patio and Palapa provide a quiet space for reading or eating or raising a glass at the end of the day.
For anyone longing for a little peace in their lives, the soothing environment out on the mountain will be a welcome retreat. With the colour and excitement of San Miguel de Allende just a short drive away, you can enjoy the best of both worlds.
Guests have access to the entire home and the outdoor areas, except for a locked storage area under the terrace. There is an extensive collection of books that you are welcome to enjoy during your stay.

Other things to note
Travellers who are independent, creative, have an appreciation of the natural environment and a sense of adventure, will love this space and location. The quiet and the night sky alone are worth the drive!
For people who prefer the daily thrum of a bustling town or city, this place may feel too isolated.
Check in time is 3 p.m. Check out is 12:00 noon
We ask guests to respect this beautiful space that we have worked so hard to build. No indoor smoking or parties.
Please respect the use of water because this is a rainwater collecting house. We are not on a city water supply (there is no city water in these mountains).
(Information about everything you need to know to live comfortably in Granny's Casita is in a binder that will be on the kitchen table on your arrival.)
