Darlington is a spacious, airy, light-filled holiday home that enjoys lovely ocean views over Mercury Passage towards Maria Island National Park. Set in a tranquil location, Darlington is only a short 8 minute walk to beautiful Spring Beach + a short stroll to Stapleton Beach.

Darlington is well appointed, generously equipped + provides we hope, all the comfort's of home.

The space
Darlington Beach House is built over two levels.

The whole house can accommodate up to 8 people comfortably in 4 bedrooms, however the property is split into two apartments (the lower level one bed apartment of which is simply kept empty and locked so guests can enjoy total privacy on the property if it not requested/needed).

The much larger upper level apartment is the main section of the house and can accommodate up to 6 guests in 3 bedrooms (2 QS, 1 twin). The twin beds can be zipped together too if requested sufficiently in advance.

The lower level consists of a fully self contained one bed apartment/adult retreat providing a 4th bedroom (QS), an open plan kitchenette/dining/living area and a 2nd bathroom/toilet accessible from the upper level).

For groups of less than 6, the lower level one bed apartment is not included in the rate will incur an additional fee of between $50 - $80 per night depending on how many bedrooms are used in total.

Darlington provides towels and linen (not beach towels), essential oil soaps, a well equipped Chef's kitchen with stainless steel/European appliances, a partially stocked pantry, a wood heating fire for cold winter nights, a reverse-cycled air conditioning/heating system, air spa bath in the main bathroom, plus underfloor heating in the lower level living/dining area.

Darlington has a barbecue and two outdoor settings and everything (we hope) guests will need to make their stay comfortable and relaxing, including I-pod Docking stations and i-pod with a selection of music.

We also provide some kids DVD's, books and games, a high chair and a porta cot.

Where you’ll be

Spring Beach, Tasmania, Australia

Darlington is also ideally located to explore the East Coast and the Coal Valley Wine Region and Richmond. It is also a fantastic base to explore Maria Island National park with it's fascinating history, beaches and wildlife (the island is a sanctuary for the Tasmanian Devil). Spring Beach/Orford is the gateway to the East Coast. Spring Beach is only a short drive to Triabunna to pick up the ferry to Maria Island.

Drive to Freycinet National Park/Coles Bay is just over an hour via a scenic drive. Access also to some fabulous East Coast wineries on the way. Darlington Winery is in Orford itself! Also great area for fishing, swimming, kayaking, walking, bird watching, convict trails, beach walks, fossicking or just chilling out reading a book ...

Orford is less than 1 hour from Hobart and only 45 minutes to Hobart area, yet you feel you are in another world entirely. Historic Richmond and the Coal Valley Wine region is also only a short 35 min drive away.

Orford itself is a very quiet and pretty fishing village ...nestled between an ocean inlet and the banks of the beautiful Prosser River. It also has one of the best cafe's along the East coast ...'The Gateway Cafe'.
This area has been popular with Tasmanian tourists for years ...but is now beginning to be discovered by interstate and international tourists. A Greg Norman designed golf course is in the process of development, which will also attract more tourists to the area.

Why not visit before its truly discovered ....:-)

I am an author and writer and former BBC Journalist. I am also passionate about giving back to the community, so work as a volunteer each year to help coordinate the fabulous Koonya Garlic Festival. I also manage two holiday properties, Wildwood Couples Retreat in Koonya, part of our home property and Darlington Beach House @ Spring Beach, Orford, a four bedroom, two bathroom holiday house along the East Coast. I live here at Koonya on a rambling 50 acres with my gorgeous husband Paul and 3 cats. We feel very blessed indeed to live where we do and to be able to share this beautiful place with others is wonderful:-)
