Nifty stainless steel kitchen with gas oven and range. She's small but she's got everything you need. Out the front.

'Twice Lucky' is cosy, handsome and ramshackle. An original fibro weekender, she's a haven from the fast-paced digital world. No internet, no telly, just a comfortable place to read and cook and eat and play in the best village in the Blue Mountains.

The space

Twice Lucky was built in the 1970s, and she wears it proudly. The hero space is the living room/ dining / kitchen area with its traditional 70s-style gas fireplace - so you can get instant heat and adjust the flame easily.

Here's some of the other features of the house.

Gas hot water which you can set to the exact temp you like to have a shower. 44 degrees is perfect we suggest.
Gas stove
Weber Gas barbecue (you can use this 2 metres from the house in a total fire ban)
Shower, no bath.
Loads of blankets.
Doonas, of course.
Decks front and back, which are lovely places to soak up the sun.

Guest access

Right now there's no access to the laundry, the shed or the studio. If you are an artist and you fancy using Julie's studio in future, check back with us in a bit. We are getting it ready for guests to use. Twice Lucky is a great place to get creative.

Interaction with guests

Whenever I can, I'll personally meet and greet you at Twice Lucky. And most of the time I'll be at the end of the phone and five minutes' drive away, if you need to ask me something.

This place is on a lovely well located and the house and gardens are unique and bigger and better than the photographs. We loved it and definitely recommend it. Amanda and Julie were both great hosts...we even went out with them on our last night.

Twice Lucky was well located - 20 minutes walk from Blackheath and only 10 minutes walk away for the Blue Mountains Heritage Centre, and beautiful views of the valley and mountains. Comfortable beds and great use of up cycled furnishings.

Great location for exploring the Govetts leap and surrounding areas. A fantastic host, who helped a newbie to airb&b through the process, really attentive and helpful. Fantastic places, with lots of hidden extras around the house - we had a great family night playing with all the games. Thanks Amanda

We just spent the most gorgeous weekend at Twice Lucky. The location is great and the property is lovely and cosy. The fireplace kept us toasty warm and we loved all the books, games and decorations. I didn't want to leave- we'll definitely be back!

My partner, daughter and I absolutely LOVED our weekend spent at "Twice Lucky". Amanda was incredibly friendly throughout all communication and made sure we had plenty of information regarding both the house and surrounding area. Check-in and check-out was incredibly flexible and exactly what we were after. We wanted a weekend to unplug and chill and this is the perfect house for it. Cozy furnishings, a very cool eclectic retro style, vintage Australiana scattered around the house that harkened back to both our childhoods and a warmth that exuded from a house you know has been a happy place. Oh, and the awesome record collection!! My daughter absolutely loved searching for the all of the little surprises hidden around the house - poems, little plastic farm animals, feathers above the door and art everywhere. This won't be our last visit. But be warned, any plans you may have to head out and about may be thrown out the window as you wont want to leave. Edit: I just wanted to add a little tip not to overpack. We took a bunch of things to keep us busy but there were plenty of books, and boardgames and whatnot to keep us occupied.

Our family of 3 enjoyed an absolutely wonderful time at Twice Lucky this weekend. Amanda was friendly, communicative and generous throughout and the little house is a true gem: the perfect size for an escape with enough room to move and yet perfectly cosy in which to be together. The art, the artefacts and books are great, but it was the record collection and the working record player that actually made the weekend just perfect for us. We loved every moment and feel so very lucky to have been able to stay. Can't wait to make it Twice Lucky in fact.

I'm a writer who likes a good book and a strong cup of tea, and a bit of ukulele playing around the fire. My partner Julie is a printmaker, textile designer and artist. You can see a bit of her work around the Mountains at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and in the beautiful Megalong Tea Rooms, just ten minutes from Blackheath.

To check out Julie's work search 'Julie Paterson Cloth fabric.' She's got two sites, one for ClothFabric and one that is for her art practice.

Julie and I have a food blog together called Splayd and Crayon.

And I write flash fictions which you can read at my blog Small Stories.

So that' s us. We've been in the Airbnb community for a couple of years now as punters, and we are now proudly hosting for the first time.

We welcome you to our listing for the handsomest old school 1970s fibro house in town, Twice Lucky.
