The large, fully furnished Shepherd’s Hut, with outdoor hot tub (reserved at an additional cost) , decking and fire pit invites you to relax in nature with all the comforts of home. This romantic getaway, only 40 minutes from London, is perfect for couples, solo travellers, walkers, wildlife lovers, digital nomads or anyone seeking an unforgettable break away.
The space
This is the place to stay if you’re looking for the ultimate Shepherd’s Hut experience in nature.
With an elegantly designed space that feels like home, snuggle up in the King-size bed overlooking views of the countryside.
Take a relaxing soak in the large copper bath tub or in your large traditional wood-fired hot tub with massage jets, jacuzzi and romantic LED lights, and magnificent views of Windsor Castle - home of the British Royal Family.
(The hot tub is an additional cost of £65 for a two night stay)
Enjoy cooking in the fully equipped kitchen with fresh herb garden and modern appliances. With outdoor dining space, large wraparound decking, BBQ, fire pit and hammock.

Featuring pretty french log burner and radiators to keep you warm on winter nights. Enjoy a yummy hot chocolate and toast marshmallows over the fire pit whilst stargazing.
Unique, luxury bathroom:
Take a bubbly soak in the large copper lined whisky barrel bathtub, and enjoy strong water pressure from the rain shower above. Complete with fluffy towels, eco-friendly toiletries, scented candles and gorgeous views of the outside meadow.
Work from home:
The Shepherd’s Hut also comes with fibre optic high speed WiFi for those needing a peaceful and scenic work from home space.
Private garden oasis:
With spacious private decking across three levels, sun loungers, tables and chairs, you can sip your morning coffee or enjoy a hearty breakfast from the yummy hamper provided. The garden is adorned with scented lavender and wildflowers that attract pretty butterflies, dragonflies, bees and many other pollinators.
The Shepherd’s Hut and gardens at Little Dower House are perfect for wildlife watching, with several species of deer often present and many birds to spot including birds of prey and our beautiful resident Barn Owl who swoops across the field at dawn and dusk. You must stay quiet though as she's quite shy!
Snooze the day away in the two person hammock or wander across the meadow to take in the breathtaking view of Windsor Castle. It's like looking back in time.
Great location:
There's a reason Sir Elton John lives next door! Little Dower House is located in Old Windsor, close to Heathrow for easy travel, and a 10 minute drive from Windsor and Egham, which can both be reached from central London by train in 30 to 40 minutes. We're right next to Windsor Great Park and the Deer Park - the perfect spot for endless scenic walks, cycling and exploring the local attractions.
Local attractions include Windsor Great Park, Thorpe Park for thrill seekers, Ascot and Windsor Racecourses, Guards Polo, Wentworth Golf Club, many National Trust properties, River Thames boating and tow path, Hampton Court Palace, Kew Gardens and LONDON.
We recommend a car for your stay but can help book local taxis or an Uber . We can offer you a lift if your destination isn't too far away!
Please note, on some days planes fly past as is standard across most of Greater London and Windsor. As we are in the countryside our location is quieter than surrounding towns yet still a convenient distant from transport links. We have a thriving population of many species of local wildlife, and can’t wait to welcome you into your very own nature retreat!

Guest access
Guests access The Shepherd’s Hut via beautiful private driveway. The Shepherd’s Hut is nestled in its own set of meadows amidst the 12 acre private country estate and gardens.
Guests will need to walk across a short stretch of grass and woodchip path. Recommended to bring outdoor shoes or wellies.
Guests may also visit and relax in the other gardens around Little Dower House.

Little Dower House is a private home and 12 acre garden on an estate once owned by King Henry 8th. Nestled upon a hill in a beautiful corner of the Berkshire countryside, with breathtaking views of Windsor Castle, we sit next to Windsor Great Park and Sir Elton John’s Woodside Estate.
In addition to the Shepherd’s Hut, we have a gorgeous Victorian cottage and romantic studio cottage on site which guests are also welcome to book. Perfect for families or larger groups wanting a break away in nature together. Properties are spaced out across the estate ensuring total privacy and comfort.
In the summer months we also host marquee weddings and events in the beautiful woodland, meadow and walled gardens. (Please note, we book out all of our properties during wedding weekends. So, there won’t ever be overlap with your stay. All guests are able to enjoy the gardens in peace and tranquility).
