Description

The space

This is glamping Penzance style! This small but cosy space which consists of a glorified hut in the garden is ideal for those on a budget, but who want their own space and a few creature comforts besides! It would be my first choice anyday and I have actually abandoned my own house many times to hole up in this more than cute abode!

Surrrounded by trees and greenery, whilst 3 minutes walk to the sea, 5 minutes to galleries and gardens (Morrab and Penlee) and 7 minutes to shops, cafes and restuarants. Stunning beaches and coastline nearby.

The hut itself contains a double futon bed that doubles up as a settee, electricity which gives you lighting, heating, a microwave cooker, toaster and kettle and all the crockery and cutlery you will need for day to day living.

A bedsheet is provided, with pillows, but you will need to bring your own sleeping bags for comfort and warmth (arrangements for bedding can be made for an extra charge of £5 if you dont have any whilst travelling).

There is outside sitting space in a large, sunny garden and access to a barbeque and chimneya for sitting out and keeping warm at night.

The house where your hut resides is on a no-through road situated near a fantastic conservation area, leading from Love Lane, stacked full of willow trees, fruit trees and green space for strolling around. Love lane itself leads to the sea one way, town, parks and gardens the other, and rolling countryside the other so heading in any direction, you cant go wrong!

Guest access

Access is either from the back or front of the house, through the gardens to the hut. Guests are given access information on their arrival and are free to come and go as they please to the hut itself.

There is running water accessible in the garden (from the garden tap) for general use including cooking and dishes, but access to showers / bathroom and main toilet is via the main house. There is a access to a portaloo at all times, with access to the main house restricted between certain times.

Guests can enjoy the garden seating areas adjacent to their hut, which is a lovely outside space and includes table and chairs for alfresco dining!

Interaction with guests

We try to meet and greet our guests on arrival and are very happy to answer any questions, but we also realise that many guests want their own space and are happy to come and go.

There is information provided for guests on things they may need help with e.g. hiring bikes ; booking minack theatre tickets and chosing good places to eat. Having lived here for many years, we generally know our way round.

The neighbourhood

Penzance is the ideal for exploring Cornwall's rugged coastline and accessing everything that the West has to offer. We have amazing beaches, fishing harbours, famous sub tropical gardens, nature reserves, beautiful countryside and world renowned art galleries.

The south west coastal path leads to Newlyn, Mousehole and Marazion and a short drive will take you to some of the best beaches, picturesque villages and coastal walks in England including the Minack Theatre, Porth Curno, Porth Chapel, Nanjizal, Lands End, Sennen Cove, Cape Cornwall, St. Just, Zennor, Lamorna, Prussia Cove, Praa Sands, Porth Levin, Loo Bar plus many more!

St.Ives, Newlyn, Penzance and Lamorna are all famous for their late 19th century, early & mid 20th Century artist communities (Barbara Hepworth).

This is POLDARK county and much of the filming was done in and around Cape Cornwall, Porth Gwarra & Prussia Cove, all accessible within a short drive.

Penzance has a great personality and offers all the amenities you need. I have lived here for 15 years and love every inch of it's character. it's eclectic mix and it's friendly atmosphere. It has traditional and unique cinemas, some great independent shops (as well as the standard ones you may need), award winning restaurants and pubs, auction houses, art galleries, vintage clothing stores, antique shops, wine merchant, deli's and health food stores and vineyards just on the outskirts of town.

This summer sees the reopening of our treasured Art deco Jubilee Pool, a 1930's outdoor seawater lido which is at the heart of Penzance and an experience not to be missed.

Whether its wind/kite or board surfing, sailing, trekking, cycling, kayaking, fishing, yoga or just gentle walks to spot the bird/(URL HIDDEN) all here waiting for you.

On top of that, have a variety of festivals and events that will only serve to add an additional falvour to your stay e.g. Golowan Festival ; Newlyn Fish Festival. Check out 'whatsoncornwall' for up to date details.

Getting around

Free parking is available in front of our house with no parking restrictions at all. There is also parking down the lane at the back of the house if you dont mind a 2 minute walk to your car!

There is also easy access to Penzance bus and train station via some discreet lanes and through town, or alternatively along the promenade and seafront! A strolll takes about 20 minutes (if you dont stop for a coffee or glass of wine by the sea on the way!). From here, you can also catch local buses (some open top) to explore Cornwall on the varied day / week passes they have on offer.

There are regular direct trains from London Paddington to Penzance and other major UK desinations and we are also just a short walk to the quayside for catching the 'Scillonian' ferry leaves for the Isles of Scilly.

We are within easy reach of the South West Coastal Path perfect for hikers, walkers and cyclists and there is outside cycle storage during your stay should you need it. If you want to get about by cycle, but haven't brought one, there are plenty of cycle hire places locally to ensure you can get on 2 wheels and explore in the fresh, open air.

Newquay airport is about 40 minutes away and there are both buses and trains (indirect) to get from the airport to Penzance. You may be lucky with cheap flights too!

Helen's hut was exactly as its described - a bit of privacy with great value for money. She's a very friendly and is ready help. The hut itself has essentials for the stay- it's warm, space is enough for two people and really easy to reach. The scenic road, Love Lane, is just so beautiful, it's a great start to the beginning of your day. But must remember to bring a torch if you're coming back late at night because there are no streetlights. Thanks Helen for a great stay x

We had a lovely time staying here, Helen is really friendly. It really is a shed, but a cosy one, and it was nice to have our own space. You can reach the sea in five minutes through the garden gate.

This was a perfect location For us as we were arriving by car but looking to spend time in Penzance without car. It's is a quick walk to the city and a quicker walk to the ocean. the cabin and backyard are lovely but the bed is a bit cramped for two or even 1 tall person.

Our first time “glamping“ was a wonderful experience. The hut is cozy and good equipped. After our long drive we really enjoyed to sit in the garden and relax. We were a little bit sad that we had to leave the next morning. Thx Helen for hosting us!

I am an active person who loves the outdoors and doing things. I like running, cycling and spending time with friends and family.

I love living in Cornwall and settled here to bring up my son, having travelled to different parts of the world and not found anything more idyllic.

I think people find me approachable, friendly and sociable while respecting people's space, time and wishes.
