This estate is over 350 years old and if you are prone to romanticism and a love of architecture, then you may be willing to sacrifice some of the ho- hum expectations us Westerners have about smells, water supply and "whoop- the- doo" internet connections. First, one could not ask for better hosts. Second, your eyes & ears will be amazed at the 3' mud brick plastered walls, the 15'+ high ceilings with raw timber supports and the multiple balcony views. Unlike other places, the acoustics are amazing. You can feel free to play your music and enjoy the hostelers across the no- drive alley ( yes, it's pretty quiet for the historic district!). Rarely have I ever felt such a " live and let live spirit" in a place. This has it all. Ask Jorge to show you the ' before and after pictures' of his wife's ancestral home. It is still a long be if labor work in progress- but the love is there and so evident. As for me, when I left today and looked around, all I could think is this: next year Cusco! ( but NOT in the rainy season). I'm not a New Agers by any means, but this place truly is the " Navel of the World". I thank you Cusco for acceptance by me as I am. Again, if you're adventurous and want the "feel" this is the place and located in the best part of the historic district!! Enjoy!
Our host Angela and her husband were so welcoming! It was as if she became my instant mom - which is nice when you have been away for so long. Everything was clean, with bread, eggs, water and tea stocked in the kitchen. It was so nice to have extra blankets too during the cold nights. I had a very nice stay.
