About this listing
Hello! I bought this space in 2015 and renovated it from scratch! It's now a loft with brand new kitchen, bathroom and a balcony that looks out to the city's biggest park, the Lycabettus and the Acropolis. Very conveniently located near the metro and a short walk from the Archaeological Museum.
I bought this flat in 2015 and renovated it from scratch with the help of an architect friend. We kept many original 1950's features intact, like the iron-wrought sliding doors and marble floors, but added contemporary materials, a brand new kitchen and luxury bathroom fittings. The flat is on the sixth floor, overlooking the city's largest park and with unobstructed views to the Lycabettus hill (my favourite landmark!) and the Acropolis.
Guests have access to the entire flat. There's a second balcony at the back for hanging laundry.
Interaction with guests
I love playing host for people and sharing tips about Athens and other destinations. I'm after all a travel/design/art editor! When I'm renting the flat, I'm usually out of town, but we can be in touch online about everything. I also leave maps and information in the flat for my guests to use.
Kypseli is Athens' most up-and-coming neighbourhood, with many theatres, charming squares and good food. It's also next to the Field of Ares (Pedio tou Areos), which is the city's largest park. Just around the block from my flat you'll find St. Geroge's square, named after the church there, where you'll find two nice restaurants, a traditional "kafeneio" for meze and raki, a café, grocer's and other shops. A 10-minute walk south will take you to Exarcheia, a vibrant, youthful area with many bars and restaurants. A 10-minute taxi ride north takes you to Psychiko, for some fine dining and exclusive cocktails in the Embassy quarter.
To begin with, Athenian taxis are super cheap, which means you can move around fast and relatively cheap. Download the app TaxiBeat for an amazing, safe taxi experience that also supports PayPal. That said, the flat is only a 5-minute walk from the nearest underground station, which means you can be in Monastiraki in 15 minutes or to Piraeus for that last-minute island daytrip in 30 minutes. You're also within 100 meters from bus and trolley stops that take you directly to the Acropolis or the city centre.
Other things to note
There are two cats living in the flat. Preferably I would like to host people who like/don't mind cats in the house. If you would be able yo take care of my cats during your stay, I provide cleaning service for free. If you don't want to keep the cats, please let me know in advance and I will arrange to be moved.
-Please keep the building's front door locked at all times.
-Do not move or touch any of the art on the walls.
-Respect public quiet hours (11pm-7am and 2pm-5pm)
-No parties or sharing the flat with more people.

Hello! I'm a Cypriot based in Athens. I'm a composer and pianist, but also work as an art writer and editor for online magazines. I'm in love with Athens and that's why I bought this amazing flat here... It's still a work in progress you could say, but I hope you like it as much as I do!
