I spent nearly two months at Denise’s place while waiting for my lease to start after relocating to Chicago for a new job. Forest Park was a great location for both commuting and driving. I was able to walk to the Metra (the commuter train) every morning in Oak Park in about 15 minutes and the train ride into downtown Chicago was 20 minutes. You can park up by the Metra, but do note parking is $5 a day. Additionally, driving into the city is about 20 minutes (without traffic) and during commuting times was about 30-40 minutes. My room was good-sized and I had plenty of space for my possessions. The bed was comfortable and I was given new pillows and clean sheets and towels when I moved in. The house is near Madison St, which has a lot of cute shops and restaurants to check out. There’s also a Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Starbucks, and small commercial shopping center near the Metra. In the vein of transparency, I want to note a few things that aren’t included in the listing: There are about 13 rooms in the house and, therefore, about 13 people who live in the house at any given time (sometimes more if people double up), with guests being mainly students and young professionals. Everyone is pleasant and I had no issues with anyone. People do come and go with some frequency, so it can be hard to know who’s living in the house. Additionally, the available laundry isn’t free but coin operated ($3 to wash, $1.50 to dry). One bathroom was out of commission during my stay, so only 3 bathrooms were available (not 4). If you do have a car, make sure to look into Forest Park parking passes. I didn’t know those were needed, but thankfully Denise helped in getting that sorted out for me. Meal times can be a little hectic as there’s only one full kitchen. New people can disrupt the carefully crafted bathroom schedule in the morning since there’s 3 bathrooms shared amongst the whole house. With this many people cycling through, the bathrooms can be dirty and need to be cleaned more frequently. If you’re a light sleeper, there can be a lot of noise. This is an older home and it tends to creak. The doors in the basement stick a bit, so you’ll hear them being opened/closed (I wore earplugs at night and was able to block out the noise). Denise seems genuinely concerned about her guests and about how things are going for them. She lives in the area and is quick to respond to any issues that may arise. Whenever I’d run into her when she was in the house, she always had time to chat for a little bit. Overall, if you’re looking for a place that is close to Chicago, this location is good. It has access to the L and Metra trains, an easy driving distance to many downtown and suburban areas,...

Response from Denise:
Relevant fact and corrections in response to Ariel: 1. Ariel is clueless to fair market value and is not from this area. Ariel is in a new City looking for romance and a new start. 2. We have a 3:1 student to restroom ratio. 3. This is a bnb where common areas and restrooms are shared. We do not accept weekly or daily reservations, we are long term only and specialize in guests who are students and professionals. Many international students and professionals. 3. Ariel agreed to stay in a temporary room and transition to the room she booked after 4 days. Ariel was given an upgrade and allowed to stay in the refinished basement because she like the room so much. Ariel apparently was not appreciative of this upgrade and took it for granted. 4. Ariel boooked the smallest room in the building and lived in a beautiful clean home in an amazing upscale area for $768.00 per mo (before booking fees) during the busy season. 5. Ariel stated under"PRIVATE COMMENTS". That the "room was a good value ", and she was right about that! 6. I saw Ariel cooking vegetables on 5 occasions in early evening and she was the only one in the kitchen. 7. Bathrooms and common areas are maintained daily. 8. Ariels assessment of the building is incorrect and annoying. 9.Ariel thinks she should be provided with an itanary of who is coming and going?? This is insane- no bnb does this, no hotel or Homestay provides this. 10. Ariel is hyper critical and inaccurate. She was judgemental and in general a trouble maker creating a bad energy in the building and clueless as to how fortunate she was to have a beautiful home at a great price in an awesome safe upscale area. I believe that this hyper critical, holy than thou attitude will continue to create problems for Ariel and her future prospects. Unappreciative- she should have rented an apartment or hotel room.

Denise is a great host. She gave me a private tour around the area and was always super helpful. Anytime I needed anything Denise was quick to respond and help. She even had a huge Thanksgiving meal for all of us there on the holiday. It was very nice and very appreciated.

The house is in perfect location, vey close to blue line forest park station. Everything you will need during your stay is 10mins by walking. There are a lot of restaurants and grocery stores around home. It is also in perfect location for people who will do a rotation at Loyola Medical Center. Denise is so nice and helpful. If you need any help she takes care of it right away. She also picked me up from blue line station and showed me around which was very helpful. Everywhere in house was very clean. I would definitely stay at her home in my next visit to chicago. Thanks Denise.

Great neighbourhood and host. She allowed me to stay in a room that was better than the one I had originally reserved. The neighbourhood is safe and the village has everything you need within walking distance or a short drive.

Since you’re thinking about staying with me, let me introduce myself! My name is Dee and I’ve been living in the Chicago Area all my life. And I live quite a happy life. Here’s a bit more about me.

--My Hobbies--
I love the outdoors and I love to exercise. So daily you’ll find me riding the beautiful bike path near my house all over the area. If not biking, you can also often find me running my dogs on the local paths and parks.

--Why I Do AirBnB--
I do AirBnB hosting because it enriches my life. When people come together from all over the US and the world, long lasting friendships form. Also Chicago is one of the most beautiful American cities, and I love helping people when they visit our city, and surrounding suburbs. This is why I really do my best to create a fun, and warm environment for every student that stays.

--My Work--
Simply stated, I am an entrepreneur, and have been most of my life. During that time I have created, owned and operated 4 businesses, including my current company, A+ master tutoring center, located in Oak Park Il. I am a certified educator. I became interested in education several years ago and became a teacher in American public schools, then I decided to start my tutoring center.

I love running my tutoring center because I have been able to help countless children learn essential skills that prepare them to take charge of their lives when they leave school. I love helping American children and adults of all ages because I believe our school system is a disappointment.
I love working with students from all over the world because they are amazing and restore my faith in humanity.
