This lovely apartment in a peaceful area has been our go-to summer holiday since our children were young. Now we want to let other families enjoy it as much as we did. A beautiful sandy beach is a 10 minute walk away. There's a pool immediately in front of the apartments, and a golf course (ALTO Golf Pestana Golf Complex), driving range and putting green within walking distance.

The space
We love our apartment in Alvor and we hope you will too! The location is absolutely ideal if you are looking for a peaceful, child-friendly beach/pool/golf holiday. The beach 'Praia do Barranco das Canas', at just a 10 minute walk away, is beautiful and very 'Portuguese' - not too many tourists and known for its natural beauty. It's our favourite beach, but there are so many sandy beaches nearby for you to discover.
The apartment itself is ideal for both long and short stays all year round as it is equipped with air conditioning and heaters. We have installed British television with a catch-up function so you can choose what you want to watch and when. We also have a good wifi connection. The kitchen is fully equipped and there are many supermarkets, big and small, just a short drive away. We think it's important to note that we have a dishwasher - who wants to wash up on holiday?
The kitchen looks out onto the pool where you can supervise your kids, which we found to be a godsend. The terrace overlooks the back garden, allowing for privacy from the pool, so you can sunbathe and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in peace and quiet whilst overlooking the gorgeous landscaped garden.
We have two bedrooms, each with a corresponding bathroom (one with a bath, the other with a shower). Both have 2 twin beds we are easily pushed together to make doubles. There is also a sofa bed in the living room.
Please do note that we have very recently updated a lot of our furnishings. We have bought a new sofa, bedspreads, cushions and rugs, and have had new curtains made, so now the place is looking much more modern and welcoming.

Guest access
You will have the whole apartment to yourself. You will have access to the shared pool in front of the apartment, as well as access to all facilities in the Alto Golf & Country Club which is a 5-minute drive away. There, you can access the indoor heated pool, large outdoor pool, pool cafe, sauna, shuffleboard, tennis, table tennis, gym, putting green and reception, among other things. For golfers, ALTO Golf Pestana Golf Complex is within walking distance and comprises an 18 hole Sir Henry Cotton course plus driving range and putting green.

Where you’ll be

Alvor, Faro, Portugal

It is a short drive to Alvor town centre, a lovely fishing harbour filled with bars and local restaurants. We have some great restaurant recommendations to offer you, all listed in the guide we've created at the apartment. If you like fresh fish or piri-piri chicken (better than Nando's!!!), it's perfect!
Portimao, a port-town locally known as the 'Sardine capital', is a 15-minute drive away and really worth a visit, especially if you fancy some barbequed sardines! They bring them over by the plateful and they are absolutely gorgeous. Finish off your meal with a trip to the ice-cream shop and see if you are lucky enough to spot a stork nesting on a very tall chimney (you'll know what we mean when you see one!).
Lagos is around half an hour away and really good for food and shopping. There are lots of lovely clothes, souvenir, and jewellery shops .
For children (and adults!!), there is an abundance of water and theme parks in the area. Our favourites were always 'Slide and Splash' (huge water park - 20 minute drive) and the 'Zoomarine' (30 minute drive) which is a theme park/zoo with dolphin and sealion shows - you even have the opportunity to swim with dolphins which is something a lot of us want to tick off our bucket list.
