The space

Ideally situated to explore Marseilles, this beautiful flat is located in a XVIIIe traditional building. It was totally renewed in 2012.
The flat is composed of a large living room with impressive high-beamed ceilings, 2 bedrooms with a mezzanine, a fully-equipped kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine, a dressing room.
It is also equipped with WiFi, flat-screen TV.
Amazing traditional rooftop terrace.

Guest access

Bonus : access to a typical provencal rooftop terrace shared by the 3 inhabitants of the buiding: South oriented, sheltered from wind, you can have sunbath in the very center of the city, facing Notre Dame de la Garde, with amazing view. Even the luxury neighbour Intercontinental Palace does not offer such a pleasure. Beware : access forbidden to unaccompanied children.

Interaction with guests

If I am not here, you will be welcomed by Zohair, the friend who renewed the flat and his wife Pamela : after living in London (he speaks fluently English), Paris, Zohair fell in love with Marseilles and decided to stay here. I'll be more than happy to advise you with my best tips to visit the "real" Marseilles, including must-see spots, restaurants, bars, shops where you will be welcomed.

The neighbourhood

Just by the antique port 'Le Vieux Port', at the entrance to the traditional Panier district. Next to the new Intercontinental palace (thus, you'll have the same view!)
The ideal spot to discover the historical heart of the city, as well as the new national MUCEM, quick access to the departures to the splendid Natural park Les Calanques, islands (Frioul, Chateau d'If), beaches.
The district: You'll find all the local stores you need (bakery, butcher shop, supermarket, local souvenirs and great shopping center - Galeries Lafayette - nearby).
Many nice restaurants (wine bars, traditional local restaurants) in the surroundings.
I'll be more than happy to give you the best tips to visit the city!

Getting around

Everything to visit Marseilles by feet, tram, metro, buses, and boats to Calanque, island, North and South gulf of Marseilles.

central, amazing view, convenient for a 2 couples or family, fine rustic kitchen, nice bathroom but at then end of the main bedroom so lack of intimicy if you have guests. Good heating, enough hot water, lack of a proper living room sofa to chill out, nevertheless a bed is there to compensate. The experience of being there is very nice (5 weeks for us). Very calm in the evening and having a breakfast while the sun hits the windows is just stunning. Michel and his partners have been very kind and reactive. Some parts of the flat are "tired" and i assume it is also partially the charm of it. Globally a perfect experience.

The place has a fantastic location. It is really located in the best place of the city. The apartment has all that you may need for a comfortable stay. Communication went nice and fluid all the time. It is in the 4th floor and we were warned about that since the beginning and we really didn't care because it was something not important for us. The views from the dining room-kitchen windows were simply awesome. And the best of all, Marseille is a charming and cozy city with a very bad marketing which makes it less foreign touristic than the average medium size French city which is grate for tourists because it somehow feels authentic and down to earth. Overall my experience was very good and I recommend this place to any other guests from the Airbnb community.

The apartment was perfectly situated close to the Vieux Port, which has lots of great restaurants and bars. It's also close to the museum area on the port, which was really handy as we spent a lot of time there. It had everything we needed for our stay, and was very clean and tidy when we arrived. Michel had given us lots of information about Marseille before we arrived and there was lots in the apartment too. The view from the apartment was perfect, and we really felt that for a few days, we lived in Marseille!

The location really is perfect! The hosts were very welcoming, helpful, and flexible. The apartment is confortable and has everything one would need. The wifi was strong and fast -- good enough for reliable video calls. Shower is strong with lots of hot water. Would recommend.

Excellent place. A fantastic location really easy to walk to everywhere. The location of the apartment was wonderful just a few steps away from the Vieux Port. It is very central and enabled us to do everything we wanted to, while being able to sometimes come back for nap time:-). The apartment itself was nice- simply done, but pleasant and charming. Michel was a great host and provided loads of information about the neighborhood and his city. And there is a fantastic view day and night of Notre Dame.

We were greeted by Pamela and her two very special boys, who helped us with our luggage up to the 4th floor. We were immediately captivated by the view from the apartment windows. We found so many great places to eat near the apartment that we did not spend much time in the kitchen, but it was well-equipped. Marseille was one of the most interesting places we visited in our 3 weeks of travel. We tried to fit as much in to our 3 days there as we could, but the Old Port is so lively, especially on the weekend evenings that we did not have to travel far for entertainment. Alex and I enjoyed a trip to Cassis on the water taxi and later by bus, where we were able to swim and enjoy the beach.

Ayant grandi à Marseille, amoureux de la ville, j'ai rénové cet appartement situé sur la plus ancienne rue de la ville grecque, pour lequel j'ai eu un gros coup de coeur. J'espère que vous le partagerez.
