The space

Don't let the security deposit scare you. You won't be charged up front. It's just the maximum amount Airbnb says I could ask for if you wrecked my house.

For additional beds and space, click on my photograph to see my other listings.

I live on the entire first floor of a two-family house. My home is simple and neat. If you're looking for upscale living, my house probably isn't a good fit. To preserve energy, I keep the heat at low to moderate temperatures; so, if you like it hot, bring a sweater and warm night clothes.

My back yard, zip code, and next-door neighbors are in Cleveland Heights. To give travelers an idea of where my house is, I list Cleveland Heights as my location on Airbnb even though my address is in East Cleveland.

You'll sleep in the dining room (not the living room, which is what's in the photo). Additional guests may be sleeping in the dining room as well

A light breakfast is continental and self-prepared. At minimum, it will be bread, cheese, juice, and coffee or tea.

I recite a Buddhist chant daily at an alter located in the dining room. I will chant quietly when you are in my presence.

I live in an up and coming neighborhood. Sometimes you might hear my neighbors, including children. Also, a few of the homes on my street need major repairs but the street is generally quiet and has been safe since ever since I moved in in 2014.

Guest access

You have access to the kitchen and bath, dining and laundry rooms, which are shared with other guests. The living room is off limits.

The driveway parks one vehicle; so it might be occupied. 24-hour parking is free in front of my house and on other sections of the street--ask me where.

My office and workout equipment (including my bicycle) are always off-limits :(.

Interaction with guests

I'd enjoy getting to know you or I'll let you be if that's what you prefer.

The neighbourhood

Museums, hiking and bicycle trails and playgrounds, vegan to high brow to world cuisine, live music from international artists to local bands and from classical to rock to blues to hip hop, theater and cinema from indie to mainstream, world renown hospitals and educational institutions, and more local and big name stores than you can imagine--you'll find a global experience with local flavor just minutes away!

For information, visit the websites of Coventry Village, University Circle, and these cities: Cleveland Heights, Cleveland, East Cleveland, University Heights, South Euclid, and Shaker Heights. They're all your close neighbors.

Getting around

You're minutes from bus stops and public transportation hubs. Uber is available. You can pick up rental bicycles at multiple sites around town.

Check-in is after 4PM

If you do not follow rules 3-9, you will be charged $10 for each day of your visit.

The person who books the reservation is responsible for making sure each person in your group reads the House Rules and follows them.

An adult must accompany guests who are under 18 years old. All guests under 18 must arrive with their Waiver and Release of Liability document signed by their parent or legal guardian.

If you stay more than 7 nights, you pay 50 cents per night for electric, gas, and water bills.

1. Please follow the House Manual.

2. When you arrive, each person in your party must complete their own separate Waiver and Release of Liability document stating that they won't sue me or my landlord and will pay for any damages or injuries they cause while being my Airbnb guest. If you like, you can email me to request a copy. That way you can complete it and bring it with you when you arrive.

3. Wear house slippers or socks inside the house.

4. Keep all luggage, bags, and purses in the bins provided. Depending on which room you’re in, you can hang clothes in closets as well as on a clothes rack and on hooks on doors, including the kitchen door. Please check pockets for bed bugs before hanging clothes. Flush bugs in the toilet and let me know you found them. I have an exterminator on call. I am very allergic to bed bugs and could end up hospitalized or dead if one bites me.

5. Clean after yourself. This includes shared spaces. Kitchen: wash, dry, and put away your dishes. Bathroom: Cleaning supplies are near the bathtub and on the black rack. Use powdered cleanser to clean the tub and sink. Remove your hair, toothpaste, etc. from drains and everywhere. Clean the toilet if you soil it. Dining room: wipe the table and place mats with the dish cloth, remove debris, neaten the area--including rolling up your futon.*

*In private rooms, it’s your choice to keep your bed and room neat or not during your stay. But before you check out, please leave the room looking as nice as it did when you arrived.

If you stain anything with food, makeup, hair products, etc.--such as bedding, chair cushions, and carpet--clean it. You can buy head coverings at Family Dollar or Walgreen’s (See House Manual.) Cleaning supplies--including a stain remover--are in the bathroom, at the doorway.

6. Limit food and beverages (except water) to the kitchen and dining room.

7. Place food garbage in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. Rinse food containers and wrappers well before disposing of them or placing them in the recycle bin.

8. Put everything back where you found it.

9. Only touch or use things that don’t belong to you with the owner’s permission. This includes all shelves, drawers, and cabinets; and the basement.

10. Enter and exit through the side door. The living room is off limits.

Thanks for dropping by!

I'm very allergic to bed bugs and could end up very sick if one bites me. I'd love to meet you, but if there's any chance you're carrying them, please book elsewhere. :(

Space in my home is available is for guests who will be out of the house during the day.

My back yard, zip code, and next-door neighbors are in Cleveland Heights. To give travelers an idea of where my house is, I list Cleveland Heights as my location on Airbnb even though my address is in East Cleveland.

If you have a few people in your party, you can book my three bedrooms (one is a walk-through) and one or two futon mattresses in my dining room, which is shared with me and other guests.

Someone once described my home as being as peaceful as a temple. I've practiced Buddhism since 1986 and can make do with very little, which I prefer to do. Like Tina Turner, I chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo as part of my practice. If you're in the room while I'm doing it, I'll be extra quiet.

I'm becoming pretty good at leading my houseplants to the brink of extinction and rescuing them from it. Fortunately, I've never had to exercise either of these talents with my three young adult children. Sometimes my son Od helps me out by co-hosting.

As a host, I've met a lot of wonderful people from around the world. If clean after yourself and leave friends' homes looking at least good as you found them, I'm happy to welcome you into mine.
