There is a double bed in the main bedroom with a mural of trees to make you feel even cozier and a single bed in the second bedroom. There is a yoga studio in the backyard and craft beer on the corner. Rest and rejuvenate here or drive to downtown in 5+ minutes!

The space

The space is calming and peaceful. The kitchen has a coffee maker, stove, fridge, and a eating space that looks out to the chicken yard, though due to Asheville's growth, we now also get to see a parking lot designated for the yoga studio behind the house. The house is over 100 yrs old and naturally has character and some dust in places. Overall though, the space is clean, cozy, and colorful! There is a fenced in yard for dogs and a separate one with chickens. Feel free to have fresh eggs from the coop if you'd like!

Guest access

Guests have access to most of the house and grounds :)

Interaction with guests

I will be happy to guide you in a good direction any time, though since I am mostly out of the house, it will probably be via text. We are both kind and laid-back people knowledgeable about the area and Appalachia.
***During 10/16-10/19 and 10/26-11/02, I am offering the space as shared since I need to stay at the house. I have lowered the price to accommodate this! Please know, I am laid back, thoughtful, and aware. If anything, I just need to sleep there and will be out of the way otherwise! The main bedroom (the one pictured with the mural on wall) will be available for guests :)

Other things to note

In efforts to save water and the plumbing, there is a water catchment "system" in the bathroom...just a bucket underneath the sink that catches the sink water, enabling us to reuse it to flush the toilet. Please do not feel pressured to use it to flush if you don't want to; the toilet works fine!

I was not able to stay at Natalie's space as I live in Florida and hurricane Irma was approaching. I was out of the country and attempted to cancel on the website. I believed that the reservation had been cancelled until I returned to the US. At that time I attempted to cancel again but the website would not process my request. Please disregard my negative comments as I was not able to use Natalie's space but had to put in answers to the survey in order to submit this review

Sorry I was (URL HIDDEN) was the hurricane that caused you to cancel, not being sick! Forgive me,a lot of folks come through with different circumstances :)

Natalie was kind when we met her unexpectedly. The price is affordable for most budgets. The house is definitely eccentric and older with furniture to match. It is not very suitable for families with smaller children, as it is full of unique and small items that are within reach of little arms. The security of the area is questionable, but it is definitely close to Asheville. There is no TV or WiFi, but quite a book selection. If you are looking for just a place to sleep, but not really much else, then this is the place for you.

The house is truley unique and it feels so comfy. The yard is wonderful and the chickens lay fresh eggs! The house is a rustic charm and has a good energy about it. Natalie is kind and sweet and leaves little notes around to help you with the quirks or the house. Wooden is a super adorable neighborhood with extremely friendly people. Right next to community yoga, which is donation based, and if you want really great local coffee and conversation go to Asheville Coffee Roasters just down the street. Overall, we would definitely stay again.

Loved staying in Natalie's urban farmhouse. The home is so loved and she made me, and my dog feel right at home! No pressures and no worries and I got to fully enjoy my first trip to Asheville! The farmhouse was all fresh air and has a stillness that you can never find in a hotel. Also - friendly chickens hanging around the yard! Great location too - very close to anything you might want to do.

This place was great! Definitely more of a rustic cabin feel, but it ended up being great. Natalie was easy to get hold of, very accommodating, and had fresh linens/towels ready to go. It was great to have the place to ourselves and an enclosed yard for my pup to run around in while we were out exploring Asheville. It was only a ~$10 Lyft into town for a night of exploring bars. If you are down with some creaks/bugs/house quirks, this place rules. Will recommend to friends/stay here again if I come into town!

Our stay with Natalie was great! We were able to chill out at the farm house after exploring all day in Asheville. The description of the house is pretty accurate, but I did find that the couch left something to be desired and it was dustier than I expected from the description. Overall the home is great for the price and I would gladly stay again!

Response from Natalie:
Hey Pamela! Thank you for the kind words and while there are some things in the house I cant help, I will try harder to rid of the dust. And the couch rips were done by some playful dogs! As far as odors, I will try to work on that extra at the laundromat! My lawn mower broke a few months ago so I have to depend on borrowing one from my friend. I did just recently mow it again. Well, I still have your son's laptop. I would prefer to have the money prior to sending it just so that it is for sure an even exchange and I can't afford to send it without financial backup. Unfortunately, I have left it at home to get an estimate on the cost of sending it. I promise I will do that and let you know asap!! Peace to you and your family :)

I am a childrens' teacher with a love for playing music, art, the farm life, and positivity. I love being at home in our urban homestead and also socializing in town with the eclectic types of nice folks. I love traveling and have been to South India, Central America, Italy, and countless places around our country. Among my favorite types of music are traditional string band, reggae, and old country. My style of hosting is akin to how I am around friends: welcoming, hospitable, and genuine. I hope to make your stay as awesome as possible!
