About this listing

Beautiful Garden House conveniently located close to Manhattan. This is a great space for large groups that would like to stay together and relax after a busy day.

The space

Recently renovated, this spacious apartment has all the amenities you will need to spend a pleasant time in NYC. The apartment has 4 private bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. We just added a second bathroom, making it easier for large groups to get ready and on the go in no time :) The kitchen is fitted with a large counter and 6 bar stools. There is a dishwasher, microwave and toaster in the kitchen. You can use the washer and dryer in the basement and you are also more then welcome to use the backyard were there is Smoker & BBQ grill at your disposal. The block is very quite but you are only 3 blocks from the 39th ave N & Q subway stop which will take you in to midtown Manhattan in 7 minutes 2 stops to Lexington Ave or you can also take a 30 min stroll to Central Park over the 59 Street Bridge. This 2 story house was built around 1873 and it is one of the oldest brick houses in Dutch Kills. If you are drawn to the unusual and a hint of adventure you will absolutely love to make this apartment your home while visiting New York City!!!

F.A.Q:
Is the area safe?- The neighborhood Dutch Kills is very safe, only 3 blocks from the N and Q subway station 2 stops from Lexington Ave in midtown Manhattan.

Is there any Parking?- There is plenty of street overnight parking, you can choose a meter right in front of the apartment where you pay $.25 per 15 min between Mon-Sat 9am-7pm or half a block away you can find free 24/7 parking with street cleaning rules on thursday and friday between 8.30-10am. I will add that it is quite hard to find any parking during a weekday business hours due to the fact that many commuters park in the area since its so close to Manhattan. There is also a parking garage right across the street where you can park for $10 per day.

Do you accept credit cards?- Airbnb takes care of the whole reservation process and they accept all mayor credit cards.

Is there an elevator in the building? I'm so sorry there is no elevator. The apartment is on the second floor one flight up.

How is the area around the apartment? This area is called Dutch Kills and its a a small neighborhood right in between Astoria and Long Island City to very popular destinations for cafe's and restaurants. We have 3 very famous galleries with in a walking distance. Fisher Landau Center for Art, Flux Factory and PS1 which is part of the Modern Museum of Art (MoMa) Since this area is so close to Queensboro Bridge the main transportation hub of Queens this has traditionally been a place for back businesses supplying Manhattan with bread, truffles, silk, etc but over the last 10 years artists have taken over these warehouse spaces and made them into work/live loft studios. Its a very interesting area and I think you will be very pleased.

Best wishes, Jan

Interaction with guests

We are very easy going and we leave the interaction up to you. We like to make ourselves available but we have found that most New York visitors have very specific interests and reasons for coming to the greatest city in the world and we want to give you the freedom to explore and make this city your own.

This place was great for my group of 10 adults celebrating my friend's bachelorette weekend! We particularly loved that there was common space for us all to hang out which seemed not to common among other Air Bnb's in the area. We did have a few minor problems; kitchen sink drains VERY slowly making it hard to wash dishes, dishwasher falls forward when you open the door, we lost hot water for most of saturday and someone had to come re-set our boiler (which you can imagine makes it difficult for 10 people to shower). Overall, we had a great time despite these little hick-ups and would definitely stay again1

We stayed here with our family of seven. Jan's property accommodated all of us nicely. It was stocked with amenities and linens. Very close to the subway to get us to Mets games and Manhattan. It is in a very nice neighborhood. VERY CLEAN! Had a great experience staying at Jan's property.

We had a few issues with the apartment (It was very cold in the house our first night, but we discovered a window was slightly open the next morning. Also, the main toilet definitely clogs easily and actually came pre-clogged when we checked in!) but Stefan was very responsive and addressed both issues for us. Other than that, the house is very nicely decorated and is a GREAT location for access to many subway lines.

Response from Jan:
Thanks for your feedback, David. I'm definitely doing my best to improve things in the apartment. You guys are welcome back anytime!
