We spent a nice night in Arabas hostel. It is perfect for a night in Thessaloniki. Especially if you want to visit the old city. They gave nice advice's for good places to eat. Just instead of a room for 4 we got a room for 3 but it wasn't a problem because the couple slept together, but it would be a problem otherwise. The place is clean and people are cosmopolite and it was a pleasure to arrive there with a glass of cold water :) Tristan

Our family of 5 (3 adult children) stayed at Dora Youth Hostels in Thessaloniki. We had stayed in several youth hostels in Germany and were expecting simple but clean and comfortable accommodations. We were a bit dismayed to find that the room for 5 included 3 rather bumpy cots squeezed into a room with 2 twin beds. There was a stove top unit but we were told that this was not usable. We did not check out the community cooking area. We were not surprised with the smallness of the bathroom, though the shower was difficult to use. The parameter of the shower curtain extended far beyond the shower pad thus we needed to take care that the water from the shower would not run down the curtain and onto the bathroom floor. Several youth were hanging around the small, dark, desk area using the WiFi when we arrived but our children were disappointed that this area closed at 11:00 PM and the WiFi in our room was pretty spotty (thus they resorted to huddling in the hallway which was a bit better). Although the room was a bit disappointing, the "office" staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions on what to see in the city.
