About this listing
Warm, quiet, comfortable and very well equipped 2-room apartment (laundry and dish washer, WiFi + WiFi extender, A/C, blender, toaster, iron...) in walking distance to main railway, main bus station and the center. Yet, it is in a very peaceful and green neighborhood, has a free parking space and is easy accessible with a car.
We lived in this beautiful apartment in the quiet and green neighborhood on the edge of the town center until we had to move because our dog could not handle the stairs anymore. We refreshed it and arranged it even more comfortable and now it's your time to enjoy it:) We envy you a bit, but it's OK.
The apartment is quiet. The building, built in 1929, has very thick walls. The ceiling is also high so you will have a very spacious feeling inside. The floor is tiles and the oak parquet. Some of the furniture are massive and simple antique wooden pieces. You are on the top floor, so you will hear nobody walking above. To make your stay fully comfortable even in the hottest summer days, in June 2016 we installed a split system air conditioner in the living room.
There are practical rolling mosquito nets on every window, so you do not have to worry about being bitten during the night with the open window.
In the kitchen there is a dishwasher and a big fridge with the freezer. The door from there leads to the small storage room with the washing machine and the heating/water heater boiler.
We will usually pick you up with the car at the main railway or bus station. But you can take taxi or even walk by foot (both 10 - 15 minutes). Taxi is waiting for you in front of the main railway station and in the main bus station next to the arrival platform. You can take whichever, but if you will need to call it, call the "Radio taxi" on + because they are most experienced. Watch the taximeter on the entrance (it should read no more than 10 kunas, which is a start price. Every kilometer is 6 kn), and on the end of the drive (some 35 kn to us). The final price should be as on the taximeter. There is no additional charge for the personal luggage, nor for the night drive. Just the waiting is 40 kn/h. One EUR is around 7,5 kn.
If you come from the main bus station Autobusni kolodvor by foot, exit to the nearest main street (ulica Marina Držića = Držićeva ulica), and then go right (to the south) for some 150 m. At the traffic light turn right to Ulica grada Vukovara = Vukovarska ulica. There is a bicycle/walking path next to the meadow by the street. Take it straight, pass the traffic light and go more straight. When you come to the little gas station INA on your left, our building is on your right with two benches in front of it, Trnjanska cesta 11d.
If you are coming from the main railway station Glavni kolodvor, find the entrance to the pedestrian subway/shopping center Importanne. It's some 50 m to the left in front of the main entrance (just cross the first street and look/go left). Go down in the subway (there's escalator) and then left (exchange office is here). Few stairs up and again straight for some 150 m to the south exit where city buses have their stations. Go left past the Mcdonald's and then go left and immediately right (you are now walking between the rails and some more city bus stations). Go straight and then turn right together with the road. Use the left sidewalk here. Go straight some 100 m more to the main street. Some 15 m before it you will see the walking/bicycle path. Take it to the left. Our building is 5th on the left, with two benches in front of it, and the small gas station INA on your right. Trnjanska 11d.
If you arrive by plane take the regular bus from airport to the main bus station Autobusni kolodvor where you can take taxi or walk some 10-15 minutes as we described above.
If you come with the car and do not have the navigation (Trnjanska cesta 11d), take the exit Zagreb-jug. On the roundabout (circular traffic) go straight (2nd exit) then follow the directions for the center (3rd traffic light left) and call us when you pass the first traffic light after the bridge. +ela or + Nino. On the second traffic light after the bridge you should go straight (watch the lane, it's 3rd from the left, i.e. 2nd from the right (first from the right when standing on the traffic light). Then try to find a place to stop (it can be in front of the concert hall immediately on the right after the traffic light) and we are coming:)
Interaction with guests
We usually pick our guests at the main train or bus stations. We can give you some information about the city, depending on your interests, and maybe show you some of it's hidden treasures, even take you to the hiking in the nature, make an drumming or talking circle, depending on our occupations with our regular jobs and your interests.
In front of the building there is a little gas station where you can make your "emergency" shopping. On the other side of the main street there is a bakery, and in the side street near it there is a small shop. Bigger shop Konzum, working 0-24 is located in the pedestrian subway Importanne leading to the main railway station and the center. In the subway you can find ATM machines, exchange office, different fast food and a lot of different shops.
For the leisure and recreation/fitness time you can walk some 15 minutes to the River Sava or the Botanical garden or to the 24/7 gym, or 20 minutes to the lake Bundek. 10 minutes from there there is the Museum of Contemporary Art. On 5 and 10 minutes walking from the apartment there are different tram and bus stations, if you will need to go to some remote parts of Zagreb. On the way to center and the main railway station there is an old building of the steam mill. In the vicinity there is also the best local coffee place "Cug" with nice open terrace, Wi-Fi and cheep beer (Daruvarsko) and more.
In the vicinity there is also the Concert Hall Lisinski, Croatian National Theatre (HNK), cinemas, University library, Hippodrome, Old town, bars and restaurants, clubs, shopping centers etc. All of it you can visit by foot.
For the taxi call +. It's the Radio taxi, oldest taxi company in Zagreb. The drivers are also the owners of the cars. But watch the taximeter on the entrance (it should read no more than 10 kunas, which is a start price. Every kilometer is 6 kn), and on the end of the drive. Final price should be as on the taximeter. There is no additional charge for the personal luggage, nor for the night drive. Just the waiting is 40 kn/h. One EUR is around 7,5 kn.
