Giuseppe appartment is really great, it's located near the Vatican, only a few minutes away where there is also a bus stop to get anywhere in the city, so the location is fantastic. The appartment itself it's really comfortable in a very quite area, so really nice to rest in it. Has plenty of details to make the stay perfect.

The appartement is well located, up to a hill (3-4 minutes of climbing). The rooms are lovely decorated. It is a very delightful experience to see the San Pietro Dome every day when you go down the hill to the city. The main balcon is entirely south-east oriented, too hot on summer days but would be great in the evening when the sun goes down or in other seasons. The proposition of the reservation of a taxi is very much appreciated. And the communication with M. Giuseppe is always courteous. However we also encountered the same problem with tax, a real surprise when we arrived and were asked to pay the tax in cash. not very sure if it is in accordance with the Airbnb's terms and conditions. Anyway since it is not mentioned on the website, it was a real surprise. Otherwise the stay was enjoyable, especially thanks to it's central location.

Response from Giuseppe:
If you see my airbnb site in the details section you will find that Rome Municipality require a stay tax of 3.50 euro x perso x day. I also specify that is due in cash because we, beeing a very small and personal entity, do not have the credit card service. Such kind of tax is due in several big Italian City like Florence, Venice etc.

We had a wonderful 3-day stay just 5 minutes walk from St Peter's Square. It's a bit of a hill up to the apartment, but the air-conditioning sorted that out once we got back to the apartment! We walked everywhere all the time - our children are teenagers and didn't mind the 20-25 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. While walking we found our way around the city very quickly - finding some beautiful restaurants on the small streets between the sights. The highlight of our trip, food wise, was our visit to the restaurant 'Cantina & Cuccina'. It was busy and wonderful with a short 10 minute wait outside! (free small glass of projector supplied) I would recommend Giuseppe's apartment for a stay in Rome. We had a wonderful time.

Family of five (kids ages 6, 10, 12) enjoyed our stay. 5 min walk to St Peter's Square, restaurants, bus, markets. 15-20 mins to nearest metro and to Vatican Musuem and Sistine Chapel. Apartment met our basic needs. Our only issue, and it's a truly minor one, is a miscommunication regarding hotel taxes due upon arrival in cash. Evidently Rome levies a 3.50euro tax, per person, per day for renters (from 10 years old). I understand that many cities do this, so no surprise Rome has a hotel tax. But what caught us unaware is that this was due in cash upon arrival and wasn't included in the overall per day rental fees as listed on AirBnB. When we booked with Giuseppe this additional expense wasn't listed as an additional charge. Once we were informed of the expense (upon check in) I subsequently re-read (3x) Giuseppe's AirBnB apartment advertisement and didn't see the tax charge listed as a separate expense. It seemed a little fishy to me, so I inquired. Giuseppe insisted the information about paying the tax is listed. But he finally relented, saying he would add the information about this tax for clarity. We paid the tax (56euro), as requested, in cash. While this is not standard or recommended practice per AirBnB guidelines and bylaws, (AirBnB flat out says renters should not pay cash for taxes) we also relented as we didn't want to leave the host holding the tax bill. After the fact Giuseppe offered to refund the tax cash back to us which was thoughtful but didn't accept...what's fair is fair and also, admittedly, didn't want to hassle with the logistics of an electronic international bank transfer. In the end, Giuseppe said he'd update his AirBnB site which would benefit future renters to avoid any surprises.

Giuseppe is an amazing, supportive host with huge understanding. The apartment is located very close to the Vatican and very close to a bus station which can be easily used for the city center and the main sightseeings (max 5-10 min by bus, 20-25 min by foot) or Trastevere. The place is well equipped, clean and bright. During the summer the balcony most probably cant be used because of the too much sun. In general the apartment can easily host 4 to 5 persons, however it should be taken into consideration that there is one bathroom.

The owners allowed us to check in earlier. It was very important for us because we were with a child. We used transport that they offered back to the airport and our travel was very comfortable.
