Description

The space

Bedroom has two single beds, with a dresser and closet space. You will have your own private bath with tub/shower. There is also a small refrigerator in the room for guest use.

Guest access

You may use the dining room and the living room and the large back yard (dogs have access to back yard also). There is a spacious ramada in the back for sitting and relaxing. There is a hammock.

Interaction with guests

Either Jerry or Margarita will be available most of the time (we're retired) to help with any questions you may have. We have lived here 25 years and know the area fairly well. We travel a bit ourselves and have used AirBnB in a number of cities around the world. We speak English and Spanish and Jerry can manage a bit of French and some other languages.

The neighbourhood

This is a quiet residential area with commercial areas at either end of the street. There are supermarkets, restaurants and shopping plazas within 1/2 mile (1 km) of the house in just about any direction. We are close by Apache Junction (Lost Dutchman Mine area). Nearby are Saguaro Lake, Tonto National Forest and the Superstition Mountains. There are lots of things happening here such as Baseball Spring Training, Arts and Craft fairs and gorgeous winter weather!

Getting around

Best to have your own car or a rental car. The bus stop is about 10 min walk from our house and public transportation is spotty at this end of town. There is an express bus that leaves from about 2 mi (3 km) away and goes to Phoenix 4 x in the morning and returns 4x in the afternoon. The light rail is about 8 mi (13 km) away.

Other things to note

We have 4 chihuahua dogs we've rescued. They are penned at the far end of the house so they won't come near the guest room. They are allowed free run of the back yard, but we can pen them in if you prefer.

Everything was wonderful! Location, accommodations, host, parking were great, and a bonus was the fridge in room. I hope to visit again in the near future.

Jerry is a fantastic host. Beds are soft, small and noisy but the house is very clean.

Response from Jerry:
You are the first guest that has mentioned a problem with the beds. I will see what I can do about it. I only wish that you had written all of the positive things that you said in your private communication to me in the public space. Happy traveling!

My husband and I stayed at Jerry and Margarita's place recently when we came out to visit family and see a Spring Training game. We really enjoyed our time staying here. Jerry and his wife Margarita are such wonderful people, they were very welcoming to us and we had a lot of fun hearing their stories of their various travels. They really made the check in process easy and their hospitality was awesome! The room and bathroom that we had were nice. We really liked the room and we also really appreciated the fact that there was our own mini-fridge in the room. If anyone if coming out to see a baseball game, the house is pretty close to Hohokam stadium.

Jerry and Margarite were very pleasant hosts. They made my daughter Monika and I (Lance) feel welcomed. We. Did a lot of sight seeing and activites so we came and went a lot. They know the area well and have lived there for 25 years. Definetly would stay here again.

Needed a last minute one night stay and lucked out Jerry was able to accommodate even with a late arrival. Just as all the reviewers said Jerry and Margarita are great people with a comfortable, clean house. Definitely recommend!

Our stay only lasted about 12 hours, but Jerry's place was just what we needed for a simple overnight stay, and he and his wife were great hosts. Jerry was kind enough to give us a ride early in the morning, and they sent us home with fresh fruit from their lemon tree!

We're a couple that have been married 40 years. We live in Mesa, Arizona. Jerry is retired from BOEING Corp and Margarita is a retired teacher. She is originally from Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. Jerry, in his youth, was a real cowboy (not at ALL like the movies!). He is a hobby blacksmith and both he and Margarita love to travel but are not big on "tours".
Five things we can't live without? Each other, our family, our religion. Margarita cannot live without spicy food. Jerry can't live without fire and iron.
"Life is too important to be taken seriously." Oscar Wilde
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
― Mark Twain, The Innocents Abroad/Roughing It
