Joy’s house is great base for exploring Newport. It is in a fantastic location, walking distance to the main streets, the seaport, and only about 1.5-2 miles from the mansions. The house is an older colonial (what isn’t in Newport?) with lots of room and charm. It has four bedrooms. The first floor has a living room, dining room, large well-stocked kitchen (we cooked every day), and half-bath, the second floor has three bedrooms (twin, double, and queen) and one large bathroom, third floor has a queen and nice sized bathroom. Washer and dryer are in the basement. The back yard is fenced and very private with a picnic table. The Wi-Fi worked great (a major requirement for me). The parking is street parking and Joy gave us a resident’s tag to use while we were there, which is needed from 6pm – 6am. We didn’t have trouble finding a spot. One night we parked one street over, but the rest of the time we were able to find a close spot. There is overnight parking for $10 a few blocks away if you don’t want street parking. I was initially concerned when I saw all of the “host cancelled” reviews, but then noticed they were all for May and since the house is new to Airbnb, I figured the house just wasn’t ready in time…and we did end up being the first. Although I didn’t meet her in person, Joy responded quickly to my questions. I have no reservations recommending it. Have fun, enjoy Newport!
