Nana's Beach Cottage is a rustic getaway with stunning panoramic views. Built in the early 20th century, it retains much of its rustic feel. Located on a beautiful private sand beach where you can swim, hike, kayak, read, and play in tide pools.

The space

Nana's Beach Cottage is a rustic getaway with stunning panoramic views. Originally built as a stable in the early 20th Century, the cottage today retains much of its original rustic feel even with several expansions. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for something uniquely rustic in a spectacular setting where most of your day will be spent outside, Nana's Beach Cottage is just the place for you and your family.

The cottage is located on a beautiful private sand beach where you can swim and play right out your front door, hike through woods, kayak the shoreline, walk the mudflats at low tide, watch birds, identify anemones in the tide pools, indulge in beach novels, rekindle that latent interest in watercolor painting or photography, drift to sleep with the lapping of the waves and wake to a sunrise dancing across the water.

For adults and children of all ages, this is a special place to be away from it. Here everyone can disconnect from digital devices and connect with one of the most beautiful spots in Maine.

Guest access

As guests of Nana's Beach Cottage, you will enjoy full access to several other sandy beaches, mudflats, endless rocky shorelines, tide pools teeming with critters, nature preserves, and fresh water ponds.

We loved Nana's cottage and made many beautiful memories there. You are definitely getting a cottage/camp experience. The king bed is pretty hard so if that makes difficult sleep for you you may want to bring an air/foam mattress. Though the description says otherwise, we did see one crib and one pack N play there for wee ones. There are marshes within the surrounding vicinity and thus the mosquitoes in the late afternoon and morning, especially if you are going for walks, are pretty thick, but they flee from the beach first when the sun gets hot enough and a light breeze flows. But the view all around is wonderful!!!! We went clam digging with our kiddos near the tennis courts at low tide and it was SOOOO addictive, like digging for gold, LOL! And we ate them, at least most of us did! The beach is huge and beautiful and terrific for kids... and us adults! There are linens and towels but no extras (at this time) so you may want to bring extra as you cannot wash anything. Our girls loved the bedrooms upstairs, they were so cute and cozy, though our guys would not have balked had they had to stay in them ;)! We were so grateful to be able to spend our time as a family, making memories and connecting and Nana's Cottage was a wonderful place to do just that!

Nana's cottage was incredible. It is a comfortable, spacious, rustic cottage on one of the more beautiful, although petite, beaches in Maine. There is a view of two lighthouses, the beach, and the ocean from dining at the table. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you would need for cooking, including 2 coffee-makers, microwave, toaster, spices/oils/vinegars. Lots of beach items, board games, beach chairs for use. The gas stove quickly made the living room cozy on cold mornings. Very private, water on both sides. Only small downfall is that you must bring your own drinking water. Plan accordingly, quite a distance to town/civilization (which to us was a positive). We can not wait to go back again, one of my top Airbnb experiences thus far.

The beach is amazing! We loved the quiet and privacy of the cottage and beach. The kitchen was well furnished (they even had a Keurig machine). Jim and Kris were very kind and communicated well. The cottage is very rustic with water needing to be conserved (i.e. very brief showers). But if you're prepared for that, it is a wonderful place to stay. The beach is steps away from the cottage so it's convenient to run back to the cottage to get something. No need to pack up the family if someone needs the bathroom! We really enjoyed our stay.

We really enjoyed a perfect getaway with rustic comfortable quiet cottage, private beach and beautiful views. Slept to the sound of the ocean. My golden retriever loved the run of the beach and my sons enjoyed fishing and beach activities and exploring nearby mud flats at low tide.

Location is stunning and it is very quiet and peaceful. Great summer spot, especially for kids. Probably not the best fall location to stay. Rustic nature means no insulation and there is only one propane stove downstairs which didn't seem to be working during our stay. The bathrooms and septic are also rustic so be prepared since there weren't pictures. The beach was awesome, however, the overgrown shrubbery near the cottage didn't allow us to see the great view from the back deck. The kitchen is very well equipped, including a coffee pot. The drive to other scenic locations was pretty easy, just slow.

Nana's Beach Cottage was, for us, pure bliss. An incredible coast outside, books and fire inside, we loved it. Very comfortable to our standards : steady beds in cute wooden rooms, short but hot shower, perfect kitchen with expresso machine and absolute silence except for the waves and the wind. Thank you for sharing this place !
