Deborah's place was fantastic - only about a 20 minute walk into Stromness and a bus stop at the bottom of the road going into Kirkwall, great for when like us, you can't drive a car! Deborah was really lovely as well, super friendly and welcoming, very relaxed. We had 2 extra people come and stay with us for one night at short notice but she had no problem with it at all and came over with fresh towels for them. Plenty of space and really comfortable, Could easily stay several weeks and feel right at home.
Deborah's place is really good value for money, has full facilities and is located a stones' throw from the main route between Kirkwall and Stromness. We used the buses all week and all we had to do was walk 100 yds to the end of the street and flag the bus down when it passed (every hour). It is on the brow of the hill which over looks Stromness and the hills of Hoy (which is a stunning view) and it is also easy walking distance to Stromness which has a co-op and pubs etc. The 2 bed flat is all on one level and is an annex connected to Deborah's house which is also a B&B and so anything that we needed to ask could quickly be answered with a knock on the door.
Ideal location to see the sites and the town of Orkney. It's just a few miles out of town from the ferry. Lovely view of the sea from the livingroom window. Nothing fancy, but quiet, warm and centrally located. Good kitchen supplies available. Need to turn on a power switch to operate the shower. Would stay there again though.
The 2 bedroom apartment is attached to the main house with a separate entrance. It also has a shower room and a living room/open plan to kitchen all of which was clean and comfortable. The house is about half a mile from the outskirts of Stromness and has great views overlooking the town, ferry port etc. The owners also do B & B within their main house with one or possibly two bedrooms directly above our apartment. During our stay we were awakened quite early a couple of mornings by the movement of people above (who were presumably heading out early) due to noisy/creaky floorboards. Apart from that everything else was perfect and we would recommend staying at Deborah's place (Lindisfarne)
