The purpose of our trip, the annual sisters' trip, is to talk and visit and hang out together doing things. This house worked well for us. The Lakeside vacation cottage is part of the old Methodist campgrounds at The Weirs. This cottage appears on an 1892 map as belonging to A. Webster. The house is a quirky charmer just like its neighbors. Three of us spent a comfortable week there -- bedrooms in the eaves, a tilt to some floors, doors that either do not close tightly or swing open, etc. We are sisters in our 60s and 70s and there was nothing threatening about the structure; we got up and down the staircase, noting where to step and where to hang-on. Doreen's photos are accurate for both interior and exterior. The ceiling fans cool the house and each bedroom has a fan, we were comfortable even as the temperatures climbed in the high 80s. Neighbors, including Doreen and her family, are friendly. Sitting on the front porch and walking down to the water, we met a number of people. The cottage is just around the corner from the boardwalk and Winnipesaukee Pier, making, food, entertainment and diverse walking route handy. Still, the neighborhood is quiet -- well, except for pleasant weekend jazz and the train whistle. These just added to the holiday feel of the place. We loved the location and our funny, little house.
