I had an AMAZING experience staying with Claudia. I came to New Orleans alone for a 6-week rotation at a nearby hospital. I was a tad nervous about moving to a brand new city & into a house with someone else. My worries were gone after one phone call with Claudia. She was generous, kind and accommodating from day one. For example, she took pictures of the closet space, spelled out every kitchen appliance available and answered all of my questions promptly - all before I even moved to the area. During my stay, she was always available to answer my questions and/or provide recommendations, but was also very respectful of my privacy. It was so nice to know I had someone around should I have needed anything or had any concerns (which was rare - if ever- because the property was so wonderful.) Starting from the outside: the house is beautiful and charming, with tons of character - exactly what I was hoping to find for my stay in New Orleans. The neighborhood is perfect. There are nearby stores and coffee shops, and I always felt safe. Being a runner, I really enjoyed its proximity to St. Charle's Avenue and Audubon Park - great for long, scenic runs. Inside, the suite includes two large rooms and an extremely large bathroom - all with very high, open ceilings. The rooms felt bright and airy during the day - and the curtains almost functioned as black out curtains when I wanted to sleep in a bit later than the sunshine. The first room functioned as a bedroom, with a very large, very comfortable bed, as well as a TV and sitting area. The second room included a baby grand piano, built in shelving, sitting area and kitchen area. As mentioned in the listing there is not a "full" kitchen, but a small kitchenette - equipped with a mini-fridge, conduction plate, George Foreman grill, toaster oven, etc. - everything I could possibly need as I was cooking for one. (However, with so many good restaurants near-by and in the New Orleans area, I didn't cook nearly as much as I usually would). The bathroom has a large, beautiful clawfoot tube and a spacious shower. There was a hanging clothes rack at the end of the hallway with plenty of room for all of my hanging clothes, and plenty of space for my shoes underneath it. There was additional space for toiletries, make-up, clothes etc in another closet in the bathroom and a dresser in one of the main rooms. Overall, the property was perfect for what I needed and Claudia was the perfect host. I would highly recommend Claudia's space for extended-stay renters like myself, who are looking to feel like a local during their stay in NOLA. Claudia, thank you so much for everything and for helping to make my stay in New Orleans so amazing and memorable!

Claudia was a great host to me and my fiancee. She was accommodating and we loved her positive energy. The place looked exactly like the pictures posted - what you see is what you get. Thank you for making our first stay in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, an unforgettable trip!

I enjoyed my visit at the Uptown Charmer. The rooms were spacious and clean. Lots of interesting artwork and collectibles. The location is convenient to shops and restaurants.

Response from Claudia:
Hi Tobi. Thanks for the constructive review and keeping it private. We have found a new home for Peeps, for a number of reason, as Bart does not like the bird! And we are going to close off the front from the rest of the house as soon as the money appears. I just started renting out the suite this winter and it seems to be a viable business venture so I am going to invest the money and knock out walls and install doors. Be well. Regards, claudia

Welcome. New Orleans is a great city where you can run nonstop with an almost unlimited number of bars, music venues and of course great restaurants or just chill with the sultry summertime vibe which seems to hang in the air all year long. I love to travel and experience different cultures and New Orleans is certainly different than any city in the US that I have visited. It's my home now for 23 years and I will never tire of admiring the houses and architecture, the live oaks, gardens, and the sense of community that is unique here. My favorite things include digging in the dirt, traveling, kayaking and reading an intriguing book. Right now I am reading Just Kids by Patti Smith - her story about coming of age with Robert Mapplethorpe. I've just returned from Morocco, one of my favorite countries, and will tell you some stories about the trip and the fabulous country when you come visit me in my 1890's Shotgun. My first language is English but if you speak French or Spanish we can manage as I know enough to get by. Be well and happy travels.
