Built in 1914, Historic Mackenzie Manor is a staple of the Melrose District and can be found in the national registrar of historic homes. Luxurious and serene, this DUPLEX is in a centralized location that enables you to experience and explore the vibrant cultural scene that is The Melrose District.
The house is effectively a DUPLEX, the guests reside in a space that is Separate from the main house. Private entry, private bath. The space which accommodates the guests is spacious and inviting. Historic but updated decor with a queen bed as well as a futon.
The kitchen area features a fridge, a microwave, double sink and as well as plates , cutlery, glasses etc...
Both the bedroom and the lounge feature 42'' flatscreen tv's with access to netflix, amazon and hulu. Wifi is free and fast.
The suite is in the same building but separated from the rest of the house .
The owners do live on site.
Guests have private entry, private bath. One bedroom and separate lounge/ kitchen area.
street parking, no permit required, no time restrictions.
Guest also have access to backyard. please note that we do have free range chickens.
Note that the property does get irrigation flooding on a semi-monthly basis, which can make the yard a little wet for a day or two.
Interaction with guests
We are available anytime guests need us, but we also understand and respect people's privacy.
Other things to note
We are located in a very central spot, although our property is quite serene and beautiful, you can still expect standard city noises from the surrounding area. You will have access to our backyard, which does have 5 free range chickens living in it.
No Smoking on the premises or anywhere on the property. No early check in. No babies/kids. No parties. Please respect our historic plumbing and keep the amount of toilet paper flushing to a minimum.
Please power off lights and air conditioning/ heat prior to checking out. If you plan on being gone for long periods of time, please don't air condition or heat an empty room.
Please wash and put away any used dishes.
We prefer not rent to photographers, doing photoshoots for magazines, editorial, etc.
Gabriel and Melinda Genier first purchased the property in 2015, the manor had been neglected for many years and needed countless updates.
While it's still a work in progress, and will be for many years to come, the suite which accomadates the guests is fully renovated.
