Wight Cottage is in St Mary's Road, close to the shops, pubs and restaurants of Cowes High Street.

You'll appreciate the careful refurbishment of this 150 year old shipwright's cottage. In the summer you can throw open the French windows to a sunny garden. In the winter the underfloor heating will keep you warm or you can light a log fire.

Wight Cottage is just a few minutes walk from both Cowes Yacht Haven and Shepards Marina, so it’s the ideal accommodation for a Cowes sailing event.

The space
Wight Cottage is a holiday home for Andrew and Stephen, co-hosted by John who lives in Cowes.

You may also be interested in Willow Cottage, their place in Barbados. It's close to Long Beach in the south of the island: a great base for an inexpensive Caribbean holiday. For more details on Airbnb search for Willow Cottage Long Beach Barbados.

The tiny external appearance of Wight Cottage in Cowes belies its spacious interior. The ground floor has been extended to include a large kitchen with dining area. French windows open out to decking and a patio garden with tables and chairs for meals outdoors.

The main bedroom with double bed is upstairs on the first floor, alongside a roomy bathroom with walk-in shower (no bathtub). The attic bedroom has twin beds and is accessed by a full sized staircase.

The sofa bed accommodates a fifth guest who doesn’t mind camping in the sitting room.

Guest access
The entire house and garden is yours while you stay. There is a wood carving workshop at the bottom of the garden which is normally locked but can be made available on request.

Other things to note
The cottages here date from the middle of Queen Victoria's reign. Although ours has been brought fully up to date it was built in the nineteenth century and is not completely sound-proofed. You may occasionally hear the neighbours.

Those neighbours on one side have a right of way across the back garden to reach their own garden from the street. This is almost never used, but don't be alarmed if it is.

Sleeping arrangements are comfortable for up to five. Four guests sleep in the two bedrooms (one double and one twin). A sofa bed in the sitting room accommodates the fifth.

Cowes, United Kingdom

Cowes is a pretty little town, very quiet in the winter but a busy centre of sailing events and associated parties during the summer.
