A private room in an elegant historic Captain's house. Two blocks from downtown, the ferry, town pier and beach, restaurants, and public transportation to the rest of the island. Harbor views from the bedroom window. Access to an expansive yard- outdoor dining on the patio, garden and benches in a well maintained double lot garden. Use our bikes to explore the island, our beach chairs and umbrella for the nearby town beach, or enjoy the short walk to town shops and fine dining.

The space
The bedroom is on the second floor with a queen bed and a private bathroom. On Main St, a short walk from downtown, “Fairtide" sits on a double lot with expansive lawn and gardens. Save yourself the expense of bringing your car to the island and enjoy the short walk from the ferry and use of our bikes. Parking is also available if you bring a car. This historic house was built in 1905 by Captain George Eldridge who in 1875 first published the famous tide schedules still used by sailors today.

I think we are in one of the best locations on the island. We are just out of downtown Vineyard Haven, so walkable to/from the ferry, restaurants, shops, beach, and public transport, while also in a quiet historic neighborhood.

I grew up spending my summers on Martha's Vineyard and now split my time between the island and Nepal with my wife Sweta. I'm a stone carver and my work is exhibited throughout the property. Sweta is a gifted massage therapist and is available for in house massage! In Nepal we work with American students on semester study abroad programs as well as in humanitarian work. We are happy to respect your privacy but if you ask we are very happy to share what we know to ensure you see the best of what the island has to offer!
