Casa Bonita at Rose Haven Farm is located in Las Parcelas, 1 km. from Poalo &15 minutes from Latacunga, Cotopaxi Province. Close to PanAmerica hwy, we are well located for trips to Cotopaxi & Quilotoa. My home is an adobe house with a lot of art. While here just over 3 years, much is very pleasant, but not a completed project, more a work in progress. However, from visitors I have had from several countries, you may well enjoy a stay here. We also offer private car excursions & meals .

The space

I have long collected art and my architect designed house with its tunnels and niches well suits my collection of art and textiles. We are also a small lavender farm and continue to grow fruit and vegetables, while Isabel raises cuyes.

Guest access

Your guest room, either of 2 bathrooms, living room, dining area, outdoor patio, work station for internet access and tea / coffee making. We also have a good collection of tourism materials to help you plan your activities and routes. The house is all on one level, although there is a roof terrace should you like to check out the view of Cotopaxi volcano. Should you arrive by car there is parking at the rear and we can provide clear driving instructions. Do not count on GPS alone.

Interaction with guests

Usually I will be on site to help you and will socialize if you wish. If not my housekeeper, Isabel, will help you. For excursions, Fernando is my driver and will also help you if you arrive by bus. We also can do pickups in Latacunga for those arriving by bus. And we have often done an evening meal. Excursions, pick-ups and meals are at additional cost but reasonable.

Other things to note

We have 3 dogs on site, all friendly although they need to be introduced to you. One dog, a small one, Reina, usually lives in the house. In addition, should you need dinners, these can be arranged at a modest cost. We are not located next to restaurants, although tipico lunches can be purchased in the village Mondays to Fridays and restaurants are found in Pujili and Latacunga. Occasionally guests have bought groceries and requested use of the kitchen. At times this can be arranged.

- This is a rural area and being Ecuador there can be parties and dogs of which we have no control; these are not offensive generally but we cannot guarantee extreme quiet although I love the birds.

Casa Bonita was designed by an architect from a famous artistic family and it shows. It is truly beautiful and unique. The garden is Linda's design and work - it is also beautiful and is expanding with flowers, fruits and vegetables from both of Linda's cultures - roses and bougainvillea and unknown lily-like flame shaped flowers, gooseberries and strawberries and some fruits of Ecuador of unknown name. Linda is an excellent and creative cook and a completely understanding and kind hostess. I was totally spoiled. The area has beauties no one seems to know of including an old monastery that became a hacienda and then a government monument, within sight of Linda's garden but it requires a close look - tranquil beauty in its tercer edad.

Linda's place is a beautiful house outside of Latacunga, Ecuador. She's a great host that will do whatever she can to make sure that you're comfortable and enjoy what the area has to offer. She also has great advice on places to visit in the Latacunga area. I will definitely recommend this house!

Linda's house is a beautiful adobe building with lovely gardens in the country along with a great view of Cotopaxi. She made us some delicious meals and provided some great conversation and information about travel in Ecuador. A great base for exploring the area!

I am a Canadian who has retired to Ecuador. However, my life is not retired. I have a lovely adobe house on one and a half ha. in the countryside, outside of Latacunga which is a large city of about one and half hours south of Quito. This location is in the Andes and I live at about 3000 m. I also have a very nice housekeeper, Isabel, who is Kitchwan, and she not only works with me but is my friend and her husband is the Mayor of my community. So I have been learning lot about the indigenous cultures of Ecuador as well as how to garden here and travelling here.

I love to garden and have had walls built to deal with the wind. And, bit by bit I am planting this garden and already can see fruit on my small fig tree! In addition have planted quite a bit of lavender and will likely explore the idea of a small lavender farm here as I don't see many in Ecuador. I also love art and textiles and my house reflects that. In time I hope to make a few small enterprises around my house to help employ some local people.

In addition, I love to travel and besides knowing much of Canada, I have been to the USA, England, Wales, Scotland, Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Egypt, New Zealand, India, Peru, Mexico, Panama, Cuba, Jordan, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana, as well as many places in Ecuador including Galapagos.

Beginning in 2016 I began offering my house in Ecuador for Airbnb. I look forward to meeting you.
