Welcome to our floating B&B!
This is an unique experience to see London from a different viewpoint. The boat, although small and narrow, is very comfortable and cosy inside. It has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable, a home from home.
The boat is a 43 foot (13 m) canal boat with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen/dinner and lounge. There is also ample outdoor space to enjoy when the weather is fine, watching the world go by or dinning alfresco. The boat is small and is best suited for a couple.
Although needing a little TLC on the outside, Inside, she's a home from home! The sleeping accommodation is made up of a back cabin with double bed and side portholes.
The bathroom has a lovely hot shower, a cassette toilet and a wash basin with shaving point.
The living area is towards the front of the boat with a solid fuel stove for chilly evenings. There is a large comfy sofa as well as a dinning table.
The galley has a gas hob and oven with grill, a sink and draining board, cupboards and drawers housing all the usual kitchen equipment.
Water is held in a tank onboard and needs topping up every few days (depending on your usage). You can drink the water from the taps. Hot water is generated from the engine.
In the winter months heating is by the solid fuel stove which burns a combination of smokeless coal and heat logs which are provided.
Power is supplied by batteries. Running the engine for a period each day tops up the batteries and heats the water. Some appliances cannot be used, for example hair dryers, as they are too powerful for the batteries.
Living on board is not quite like a conventional homes and has some limitations. It may therefore not be for everyone, please consider this before booking - think luxury or glamorous camping - glamping if you like.
Guests will have full and private access of the entire boat
Interaction with guests
The host will give instructions on how everything works on the boat, leaving you in privacy to enjoy your stay.
The host will also be on call should there be any problems and more than happy to suggest areas of interest and local information to aid your stay.
Other things to note
The boat is moved every two weeks so the location will change. You will be staying in a location in either Central, East or West London. You will always be close to public transport. The host will be able to give a rough location of where the boat is likely to be moored a few months in advance. The exact location will be given a few days before your stay.
You will need to turn on the engine each day to re charge the batteries and to heat up hot water, you may need to top up the water tank and/or change the cassette for the toilet. When it's cold you will need to light the fire. Instructions will be given on how to do this all of these tasks and the host will be on hand if you have any issues.
There is 12v electricity on the boat, meaning some appliances such as hairdryers can not be used. This is common in many boats moored on the canal. There is no WIFI on board.
Check-in is after 3pm
Check-out by 11am
Please fully read my listing before your stay to understand what being on a boat is like! You must read the manual when you arrive at the boat to understand how everything works. You will need to turn on the engine each day to recharge the batteries and to heat the water. You may need to top up the water tanks and/or change the cassette for the toilet.
Smoking is not allowed inside the boat. You can smoke outside the boat on the deck.
The boat is not available for cruising unless by prior arrangement with your host and should be regarded as a static houseboat. You must not drive or move the boat.
Please conserve electricity and water as these are not limitless. Do not use hairdryers on the boat.
Please be considerate to other boaters on the canal with regard to noise especially at night, no parties please. Do not run the engine before 8am or after 8pm. This Airbnb will suit people looking for a peaceful sanctuary from the city.

We like discovering our city, drinking tea, going to gigs, travel, catching up with friends, meeting new people, walks in the park, drinks in the pub, reading books, visiting museums, music, photography, film and having folk round for dinner.
We both really love London and would be more than happy to help you plan your trip here.
