Description

The space

This building, originally a stable block, has been recently renovated into a luxury single storey holiday home. With stunning exposed brickwork and restored original roof trusses, it's a great retreat for a quiet holiday. The property has 3 bedrooms (1 double and 2 twins (which can also be a double) an en-suite, a wet-room, a large bathroom and a large open plan living, dining & kitchen area. The underfloor heating is provided by an Air Source Heat Pump with individual room stats and Solar Thermal Panels heat the hot water.

Outside the living room is a securely fenced garden with large patio and BBQ area which overlooks open countryside. Through the garden gate there is a large grassed area where children can run around and play.

Guest access

The property, large patio garden and surrounding grass play area with a football goal are provided for guests to enjoy.

Interaction with guests

The hosts live on site so are usually available should guests require any help. Phone contact details are in the Welcome Pack.

The neighbourhood

Goodmanham is a small village with a good local pub within walking distance of the cottage. It offers food every lunchtime but just on Monday evenings.
We have recently opened a tearoom on our premises - The Fiddle Drill - which is currently open Friday Saturday & Sunday 10am - 4pm.

Goodmanham village is 1 mile from the town of Market Weighton which in turn is almost midway between York and Hull. In Market Weighton there are local shops, doctor and dentist surgeries, 3 supermarkets and several places to eat or get a takeaway.

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday in a quiet village with a great local pub then this is the place for you!

Getting around

There is a regular bus service which runs from Market Weighton (1 mile away) to Pocklington, York, Beverley & Hull.

Other things to note

Liz was a wonderful host. She was very pleasant when we arrived and gave us some information about where to go. The accommodation was wonderful. Everything there you need and the kettle was even boiled ready for us to have a cuppa right away! We made good use of the BBQ and the outside sitting area is beautifully situated and admire the stunning views of the countryside! This trip has been lovely and we will most certainly come again.

A beautiful home in a stunning part of the country. Liz was a great host with everything we could possibly need being provided. I'd also highly recommend the cafe on site for a coffee during the day.

The Stables was warm and welcoming when we arrived. Developed to a very high specification The Stables was ideal for a family Christmas gathering, extremely well equipped and spacious with everything we needed. We didn't take advantage of the surrounding countryside as we were too busy with family christmas celebrations but there is plenty to do for a walking holiday. We hope to go back in the future and highly recommend The Stables to stay in.

Liz is a very professional and welcoming host. Once she had shown us how everything worked she made it clear that should we need anything else she would be there to help. A very friendly welcome and a wonderful holiday home.

The Stables was everything we hoped for - high quality, spotlessly clean and in a great location. Communication with Liz was first class and we were made to feel very welcome. Super place for a short break - thank you!

Liz User ProfileLiz is a superhost.

Having lived in Yorkshire all my life I know East & North Yorkshire well.

When I left nursing to help with the family business I missed the one to one contact with people so we decided to convert our traditional farm buildings to holiday lets. We are now able to share our countryside experience with our guests. I manage the two modern holiday cottages personally. l hope guests find the cottages are well equipped but if there's anything I have missed I am happy to have ideas!

As well as the cottages I help with our farm & haulage businesses. We have lived at Manor Farm for 35 years so I am actively involved in the village as a member of the village Parish Council & the village Church.
My husband Paul & I live on the farm so one of us is always at hand if our guests need anything When we are on holiday our son James is only 5 minutes away.
