About this listing

The house is in a small village in a gorgeous part of south of France.

If you love the outdoors there are many things to do locally, hiking, cycling, motorcycling. You can swim, kayak or fish on the Orb or just relax.

The house was fully renovated a few years back and you have your own good sized room with shared use of bathroom, kitchen and living area. I have a large garage which you could potentially use for your cherished car or motorcycle if needed. There is lots of parking outside.

The space

The bedroom has a double bed. There is potential for an extra single bed if necessary.

Guest access

You have access to your own private bedroom, A shared bathroom (downstairs) with just me, living area and kitchen. A little patio at the front where you could sit in the sunshine / eat.

Interaction with guests

I will be available as much or little as you require. I can advise on things to do and potentially collect or drop off anywhere. You will have your privacy and at all times I respect your quiet time and space

The house has very fast reliable Wifi which guests appreciate.

The Tv is connected to a playstation which you can watch Netflix on or live tv through a browser. There are also a selection of games and Dvds for some entertainment.

The neighbourhood

There is a cafe / epicery being built in the village which should be ready in Spring 2017.
Also a boulangerie van which has bread and cakes stops outside the house 6 mornings a week around 10 - 10.30 AM.
There are various markets at nearby towns and villages with my favourite being Saint Chinian on a Sunday morning. Saint Chinian is small but has 3 restaurants and bars with other shops.
You can get to the beaches in roughly 30 minutes to the closest as Valras plage or if you prefer there are lots of spots to swim in the river Orb, Roquebrun is a favourite.
The Canal du midi is less than 15 minutes away at Capestang.
There are many airport options with the nearest and my favourite being Beziers which has some very cheap flights with other choices being Carcasonne, Montpellier, Toulouse, Perpignan, Nimes or even Girona and Barcelona.

It goes without saying there are many caves nearby to get some great wine at fantastic prices.

Getting around

There are limited buses from the village so planning is necessary. They can take you to Beziers and some of the surrounding villages.

Other things to note

I have a couple of mountain bikes in the garage which you could borrow to explore the hills or local villages. It is under 4 miles to nearest mini supermarket in Cessenon Sur Orb, or a 3 mile cycle ride on a track. 6 miles to a large supermarket and various shops in Cazouls Les Beziers.

Martin was a great host, from the beginning & communication until the end everything was perfect. The house & room were comfortable and clean & we had dinner together throughout which Martin shared interesting stories of his aviation, travel and sport experience with us:) He also gave us useful tips as to where to go in terms of sightseeing and was all over a great host! Would definitely recommend !:)

Martin was an incredible host. Upon arrival Matt and I immediately felt comfortable in his house. He was a pleasure to talk to, flexible with our schedule and incredibily hospitable (Not to mention he was also great with our dog - offering all kinds of treats, bones and toys for the road! She was totally spoiled). The breakfast was great, the room was clean and the experience just great. His place is located in an incredibly peaceful and scenic village in the French countryside. There are unlimited hiking options in the area and endless swimming possibilities within a short drive. We have been traveling for six weeks all over Europe, and visiting this area was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Highly recommended!

Martin was extremely accommodating,I immediately felt very comfortable the minute I entered the house...Martin is extremely helpful and advised me with some great places to visit.just a very short distance from the cute village are some breathtaking views on the hills that must be seen. The house and room was very clean and tidy and the bed was so comfortable!!The only regret I do have is not staying here longer,I didn't expect to enjoy my stay here so much, nothing was ever too much of a problem,it almost felt like my own home.Thank you Martin for making my trip such a pleasurable experience for me and I will most definately book again when I visit France in the near future.

We had a great experience staying at Martin's house... We had some trouble with theft in Spain (never stop someone on the highway!) and arrived at 4:00 in the morning, but Martin was patiently waiting for us and prepared even breakfast for us... The house is located in a nice and quite French village, but we didn't had time to explore the surroundings as we had to continue further on our road... The room is cozy and clean, the house is very nice + the big dog is very calm and lovely

Hi all. I recently decided to change my life after working full time all my life in the UK. I am mostly based here in my French house (near Saint Chinian) which I have had for 10 years. I also have a motor home for travelling and a love of motorbikes and have been on many adventures.
I am English but am trying to improve my French and almost non exsistant spanish.
I am a strict non smoker and enjoy fresh air and a healthy lifestyle, having a real lust for life and exploration.
