Boris a was very pleasant host and did his best to be there to welcome us and give us tips about the city. Then he left and we had this big apartment just for ourselves right in the middle of San Francisco, with free HBO on demand, so that was pretty cool.
This is a good place to go if you want to enjoy SF nightlife and you don't care much about where you sleep as long as the location is convenient and you have access to a clean bathroom and kitchen. However, I would not recommand it for people with high standards of comfort.
When I booked this room, I told my boyfriend: "That's funny, the host forgot to put a picture of the bed." And since I did not read the description carefully, I was surprised when I arrived to find that it was a huge air mattress.
Now, I'm not a snob. Providing an air bed is suggested by the very name of AirBnB. The bed is pretty comfortable although kind of awkward. I would not recommend it for people who tend to move in their sleep. But we're rather still sleepers so it was not too bad for us.
As for the building, it is quite old, so good for the nice authentic feel of it, but noisy. You can hear the upstairs neighbors walking and the cars in the street will definitely be a nuisance for light-sleepers. Once again, that is not our case so I'm not complaining.
The thing is, it's not what I expected from a 70+ dollar room. I can only imagine how high the rent for such an apartment might be, and I guess that explains the price, but I think investing in a real mattress would not be that costly and would make guests much happier.
But as I said: good location, nice and flexible host, cool apartment, very clean. Just not the most comfortable room that you can find :)
