My stay with Richard and his wife was wonderful. They were so sweet and accommodating, and I even got a chance to go out with Richard in his boat! A lovely home with an amazing view across the river - great for fireworks!

Richard and Jeanie make you feel that it is your home! Taking a ride on the river is a must. Sitting in the yard on the river was the most peaceful experience I have enjoyed in a long time. I will return. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

This was a home away from home. Though it is listed as a room only, we felt welcome to be in the living room, kitchen, and the wonderful back yard. We sat on the deck and the dock, watching the Hudson River flow by and reading the hosts' books about Troy and the Hudson. The hosts are friendly, informative, and caring people. They told us about the Erie Canal, the farmers' market, and where to go jogging. The neighborhood is quiet and parking is easy. We recommend this Airbnb to visitors of Troy.

This was our first experience staying with an airbnb family and we were not disappointed. Richard and Jeannie graciously welcomed us into their home. We had wonderful conversations with the both of them and were given useful information about Troy and the surrounding area. Richard also provided us the opportunity to take a sail on the Erie canal which was an unforgettable experience. We would without question stay with Richard and Jeannie again. They were wonderful hosts.

We had a pleasant stay here with Richard, his wife and their cat, Tuxedo. They have a beautiful view in their shared backyard of a state park and the river. We stayed on the second floor where they slept as well. The room itself is small with nothing fancy but offers a quiet rest. Street parking was not difficult.

I am a teacher, boatbuilder, designer-builder who has been displaced from the pleasures of the Harbors in Marblehead and Salem, MA and is learning to love the pleasures of the Hudson River.
My co-host and wife of 31 years, Jeannie Steigler, teaches ESL at RPI and is Assistant Director of their Advising and Learning Center. She is also an avid flower gardener which greatly enhances our little city oasis. We met doing design-build projects together.
We offer to pick up our guests who are arriving by plane, train or bus for $20.00-
Substantially less than cab fare - whenever our schedules allow us to do that.
We also will take guests for scenic rowboat rides across the Hudson River to the start of the Erie Canal for an additional $30.00 when weather permits.
