Quiet. Convenient. Clean. Tidy. Walk everywhere (there's a Boston/Cambridge bike sharing HUBWAY station nearby where you can rent bikes for a hour or a day). Parking Permit is available for 5- day-or-less guests. If you are staying longer than 5 days it is better not to have a car since the City of Cambridge regulates long-term non-resident parking. It's a 10-minute walk to Harvard Yard. Even closer to the subway/Red Line. Get everywhere quick. Christine is the artist; Matthew the engineer.
We have two rooms, both are on the second floor. Each room has a comfortable desk area for setting up your laptop. There's air-conditioning in the summer. There's one bathroom on the second floor and most likely, if you are our only guest and our daughter is not around, it will be private. There's enough space to do yoga, if you're inclined that way. Room is quiet; beds are comfortable.
You enter our house through the front door. Steps to second floor are in the entry hall.
Interaction with guests
We will be able to direct you to the subway and buses and point out the good restaurants and nightlife. We have an English 3-speed bicycle you are welcome to use. Biking is a great way to get around Cambridge. We provide lock and key. (NOTE We don't expect you'll lose it but if you do...well, you'll have to replace the items).
Other things to note
In the past we have hosted scholars and artists: For instance, Orchid scholars have stayed with us; archeologists who are reading clay tablets at the Peabody Museum; Medical doctors doing research; students here to study for the summer at Harvard; yogi for workshops; Feldenkrais people; Aikido-ists.
We are quiet, tidy people. We appreciate and expect the same. No overnight guests. Clean up after yourself. We respect each other's privacy and at the same time enjoy good conversation. No regular kitchen privileges, there are many restaurants nearby at all price levels. We do invite guests to have dinner with us on occasion. A simple self-serve breakfast is available, if you like. Just let us know. Our house is a haven of kindness and we look to attract guests who cultivate the same attitude.
