Quiet. Convenient. Clean. Tidy. Walk everywhere (there's a Boston/Cambridge bike sharing HUBWAY station nearby where you can rent bikes for a hour or a day). Parking Permit is available for 5- day-or-less guests. If you are staying longer than 5 days it is better not to have a car since the City of Cambridge regulates long-term non-resident parking. It's a 10-minute walk to Harvard Yard. Even closer to the subway/Red Line. Get everywhere quick. Christine is the artist; Matthew the engineer.

The space

We have two rooms, both are on the second floor. Each room has a comfortable desk area for setting up your laptop. There's air-conditioning in the summer. There's one bathroom on the second floor and most likely, if you are our only guest and our daughter is not around, it will be private. There's enough space to do yoga, if you're inclined that way. Room is quiet; beds are comfortable.

Guest access

You enter our house through the front door. Steps to second floor are in the entry hall.

Interaction with guests

We will be able to direct you to the subway and buses and point out the good restaurants and nightlife. We have an English 3-speed bicycle you are welcome to use. Biking is a great way to get around Cambridge. We provide lock and key. (NOTE We don't expect you'll lose it but if you do...well, you'll have to replace the items).

Other things to note

In the past we have hosted scholars and artists: For instance, Orchid scholars have stayed with us; archeologists who are reading clay tablets at the Peabody Museum; Medical doctors doing research; students here to study for the summer at Harvard; yogi for workshops; Feldenkrais people; Aikido-ists.

We are quiet, tidy people. We appreciate and expect the same. No overnight guests. Clean up after yourself. We respect each other's privacy and at the same time enjoy good conversation. No regular kitchen privileges, there are many restaurants nearby at all price levels. We do invite guests to have dinner with us on occasion. A simple self-serve breakfast is available, if you like. Just let us know. Our house is a haven of kindness and we look to attract guests who cultivate the same attitude.

Can't recommend this place highly enough. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. It had an armchair to read in and a desk to work at (and the wifi worked well). The shared bathroom was also clean and right next to the room. Christine and Matt were lovely hosts: welcoming but entirely respectful of my privacy. The house is very conveniently located as it's just 10 minutes walk to Harvard Yard. Plan to stay here again when I'm next in Cambridge.

Christine and Matt are relaxed and hospitable hosts. Their well-appointed home is in a perfect location for Harvard – a direct 10 mins walk away. I was expecting the area to be busy and noisy, but quite the opposite. My room was spacious and comfortable, with a desk to work at. I wouldn’t hesitate to thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful visit to Cambridge.

Christine is a generous and welcoming host. She accommodated every need (even foreseeing some that I had not considered) and was flexible with my arrival time when my flight was unavoidably delayed. The house is typical of the area, in a perfect spot within walking distance of Harvard and public transport without being in the busiest area. I highly recommend this host.

Christine is a wonderful, welcoming, and kind host. The home is beautiful, clean, quiet, and cozy. I was attending a residency at Lesley's Doble Campus and this location was a very short walk.

If you want a clean, comfortable, beautiful, and safe place to stay, then Christine's is perfect. I was close to my low-residency and able to study in my room without interruption. I didn't have a lot of interaction with her, but when I did, I felt very comfortable. This is perfect if you don't require/desire a lot of conversation with a host because you're too busy and tired from the goals of your stay in lovely Cambridge.
