Neighbourhood highlights

Mount Hawke village has various amenities for your everyday needs including grocery shops, Post Office and Old School Bar & Kitchen. Porthtowan has a pub and the popular Blue Bar on the beach, they both serve food. We are 500 metres down a private lane from the village which makes this a very safe area for children away from any traffic.

The popular resort of Porthtowan is only a few minutes drive as is the quaint resort of St.Agnes, with its beautiful sandy beach at Trevaunance Cove. The section of the North Cornwall Coastal Path in the area of Porthtowan, Chapel Porth, St. Agnes Beacon, and Trevaunance Cove has some of the most beautiful cliff scenery in the country, abounding in wild flowers and numerous species of sea birds. The National Trust owns the beaches of Chapel Porth and Godrevy. Chapel Porth is a fine beach at low tide, and Godrevy is a beautiful long stretch of sandy beach backed by cliffs and dunes, at low tide the beach extends along the coast to Hayle.

Most of the beaches along this stretch of coast are excellent for surfing. Perranporth, only six miles distant, with its three mile stretch of sandy beach, also offers a golf course. Horse riding is available from various establishments within a couple of miles of Mount Hawke. Hayle, with its large estuary, is a favourite haunt for ornithologists. The Eden Project is within easy driving distance. Other principle places of interest in Cornwall are all within easy motoring distance, e.g. Lands End - 30 miles, Penzance, St. Michaels Mount and Mousehole - 20 miles, St. Ives - 18 miles Falmouth and Newquay - 12 miles and the City of Truro - 8 miles.
