Description

The space

Located in the rear of the building, it's quiet and has beautiful morning sunlight. Air conditioned, neat and clean.

Guest access

Guest(s) will have full access to a full kitchen, bath, and sleeping room.

Interaction with guests

When I am hosting, I occupy the far end of my apartment, which is accessed by a separate, second door. So: I'm available and nearby if you've got a question, but if not, you'll never know I'm there.

The neighbourhood

Great neighborhood. Really.

Hundreds of bars and restaurants within walking distance, and most of them are very good to excellent! Movie and TV shoots almost every week, and conventions and expos regularly - from WFMU vinyl record fair to brooklyn furniture shows to Greenpoint open art studio weekends to outdoor concerts in the famous McCarren Park.

Take a non-linear walk around Greenpoint and just explore in any direction and you will find NYC's best coffee (really, and there's serious competition), mixed drinks, top shelf pizza, traditional Polish food, burgers, soul food, etc.

Clothing and record shops galore, from low end to high end. Furniture and decor shops too. Neat breakfast nooks just a block away.

Creature needs: three laundromats within a one minute walk, post office and police department two blocks away, fresh green grocers, true gourmet shops, and traditional supermarket all two minutes or less.

Subway one block away, see below :)

Getting around

My place is serviced most immediately by the G Subway train, which can take you through most of the great neighborhoods of western Brooklyn, from Red Hook to Long Island City. The G at Greenpoint Avenue is just a block away, and at Nassau St just two blocks away. Manhattan's Union Square or Grand Central 20 minutes. 25 minutes to Port Authority or Penn Station. An hour to La Guardia, 70 minutes to JFK.

Green Cabs and Black Cars abound. and North Williamsburg is a ten to twenty minute walk, depending on where you are going.

Rental cars are ubiquitous.

Other things to note

Please no smoking in the apartment, and kindly respect the neighbors if you come in late.

Thank you :)

Our host sure did make us feel welcome in how he prepared the apt for us and greeting us on-line and in person. The accommodations were sweet. It had a real European feel to it and was quiet and full of alot of light. The kitchen/dining was a good size and great to sit at breakfast and enjoy the view of the backyards. The sofa bed was very comfortable to sleep on and hang out on in the evenings. The whole place was very clean. You could really see how he took alot of care to prepare it for us and make it feel like a home.
