The space
The Garden Flat is a warm and welcoming Bath stone period property with a private entrance, roomy courtyard garden and easy access to the city centre by bus, foot or car. The property is completely self-contained and has been renovated recently to a high specification; as well as offering level access and security lighting, the flat has an air source heat pump with underfloor heating and heated towel rails in both bathrooms. In the cosy lounge-diner you will find a Victorian fireplace, an antique dining table with chairs and original artwork. The sitting area offers a smart TV, a comfy armchair and a roomy double sofa bed. In the spacious double bedroom you will find vintage wooden floorboards, an antique dressing-table and mirror, a super-king size sleigh bed with a high-quality mattress and a large bay window offering impressive city views. Looking out onto the private, wraparound garden, the vaulted second bedroom contains an antique wooden armchair, a snug double bed, a workspace with a vintage wooden desk and chair and wifi. There is also a laundry area containing a washing machine, a drier and a butler sink. Both the bathroom and wet room are fully tiled and feature vaulted ceilings with thermal, illuminated mirrors. In the contemporary kitchen there is a skylight, a microwave and fan oven with grill, a dishwasher, an induction hob with remote-controlled extractor fan, a fridge-freezer and a full range of cooking utensils and crockery. From here, the oak and glass-panelled front door opens onto a stone-paved seating area with views of the Kennet and Avon Canal, Bath Abbey, Prior Park House and Beechen Cliff (of Northanger Abbey fame)!

The Garden Flat is situated on a quiet residential road with free on-street parking nearby and its own private entrance. A short downhill walk to the London Road will bring you to a Morrisons superstore where buses travel regularly into the centre of Bath. The town's attractions can also be reached on foot from the Garden Flat in 10-15 minutes.

As this is a residential area, no parties permitted. Please also be aware of neighours when you are enjoying the garden. No smoking or vaping.

My work: Postdoctoral writer
I'm obsessed with: Early 19thc women writers (like Austen!)
I've been in Bath since 1996. Jane Austen lived here for five years and recreated the city satirically in two of her six finished novels. If you're curious about the Georgians at the centre of her writing, this is the holiday let for you! I love cycling, but not up steep hills or in traffic: the Kennet and Avon canal is perfect - only 1/3 mile away and easily visible from the Garden Flat. Sit in the bay window and watch the bikes and boats go by!
