About this listing

A very comfortable large apartment on the third floor (no lift) close to the old harbor and only 950 m from the city center in the residential area of downtown Reykjavík (101).
The apartment is on the third floor; I live with my family on the first floor.
The house is in front of a primary school which I love because it is so alive when the children go out to play. The school started at 08:30 and you might hear the bell ringing and children and parents coming to school.

The space

The apartment is in a residential neighborhood, you will be able to meet the locals. There is a primary school across the street for children between 6 and 13 years old.
It takes only a minute to walk to the sea shore and the closest supermarket, bakery and a restaurant from the apartment; but there are plenty more just 5-10 min away by the old harbor.

Guest access

The apartment is for you. You can use the kitchen as you please but we prefer that you don't cook fish. ( It doesn't mean you can not do it). We have really bad experiences when the guests have done so. If you do so please leave the balcony door and the window open while cooking.

Interaction with guests

We live in the same building just under the apartment and we will be available if you need anything (like using the phone for the local calls).

Other things to note

The house is in front of a primary school which I love because it is so alive when the children go out to play.

Great location, in the downtown.

This was a perfect location for us. It's not directly in the city centre, but we liked that. Perfectly walkable to city centre in 10-15 minutes and more authentic feeling than a hotel room or downtown booking. It's central to two grocery stores within walking distance, several restaurants, and more with a short drive. It was spacious, clean and well-equipped. The host, Maria, graciously met our every expectation , providing a crib for our 18 mo old and even doing our laundry when I asked for a good recommendation about where to take the laundry. Parking was on the street but always easy to get a space, and an easy place to navigate to from downtown Reykjavik. We felt right at home in this apartment!

We cannot recommend this apartment highly enough. We all had a wonderful time and it's a real home from home.

Such an adorable apartment close to the water and a 5-10 min walk to the heart of Reykjavik. The self check in is incredibly easy and convenient. Maria is clearly a pro and thinks of everything, as she gave us very detailed directions. The beds were also really comfortable and the apartment was super clean and adorable. We only stayed one night but I wish we stayed longer. The kitchen is also big and cute. We had four people and it was perfect. Stay here! You won't regret it.

Maria's apartment was very comfortable, clean and we loved the location. We walked from their to the city center and found plenty of excellent restaurants, museums and shopping nearby. Maria is an excellent communicator and responded to our questions in a timely fashion. Highly recommended!

The apartment was beautiful and spacious. We were a group of 6 adults and 2 kids and found it perfect: clean, quiet and really well-equipped. All the beds were super comfortable and Maria-Helena was a wonderful host, lending us her phone so we could sort out lost luggage and a nightmare car rental. She also had lots of brochures and guides on Iceland for our use in the apartment, as well as a box of toys that our kids loved! A really enjoyable stay. Thank you Maria-Helena!

Maria's place is very cozy and clean, and is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood just a short walk from downtown (approximately 25 minutes). Maria was extremely friendly, responsive and accommodating - she was a pleasure to deal with. I definitely recommend a stay in her wonderful home.
